I live primarily in uk, and thinking of investing in an ipad2. I would then invest in a sim card in france to enable me to access the internet via 3g at my maison sec, as an alternative to a dongle/laptop or a telephone connection. I assume you can simply buy the sim and wondered if anyone had any thoughts or experiances on the matter? thanks kim

Sky + but expired card
kimg replied to Martin963's topic in French Satellite TV, French Internet and Telephone
its all very clever. If i bring my uk sky card to france, it only works on a limited basis, and allows me to get a very few more channels. |It wont let me get my subscribed channels and tells me im using the right card with the wrong box. I assume that if i bring my uk card+ uk box, it will work fine.......... kim -

On 18th March I am driving with a group of friends to France, to stay at my house in Dept 62 and then on the Saturday, we are planning to drive to Paris to watch France v Wales at the Stade de France. The match is in the evening and the plan is to then drive back, returning to England the following day. Id appreciate any advice as to how to park up. I think the train from Arras isnt an option tho I havent researched it so I was planning to drive, park up and get a train in. Is parking at Charles de Gaulle an option? Thanks KIM

Travelling to France this morning, i failed on 3 occasions an explosives swab check. My car was searched, although not very thoroughly and I was sent on my way, having explained that the wires hanging out of a box on the back seat in fact related to and were attached to a hi fi system going to my maison seconde. I was told that the positive test related to an ingredient used in the making of explosives, and also found in WD40. My car is less than a year old, and I havent used WD40 since the summer and I have travelled to France and been swabbed within the last 14 days. During much of the intervening period my car has been frosted on a daily basis, and the only passenger in the meantime, travelled today. The car hasnt been cleaned or polished, but I have used di icer, both from a spray can and in liquid form . Any ideas as to what activated it? kim

Hi Im in Dept 62, living in a small forrest comprising of 15-20 poplar and oak trees. Unfortunately the nicest tree is a 75 ft oak with adjoins the patio and 30 ft from the house. Although it breaks my heart the tree has to come down. I was told there was no tree preservation orders there and indeed looking down the road, the neighbours have removed most of their trees the closer they live to the main road. I have no problem getting it cut down or keeping the wood, my question is, do i need to run it passed the mairie, or just get on with it? kim
