1. Snagged this afternoon, Pfizer-BioNTech. 1st rdv mid May.2nd rdv mid June.
 2.
If it is parcels from the UK it is one of the predictable consequences of Brexit that BJ glossed over...
Why would the citizens of the United Kingdom's decision to withdraw from membership of the EU be at all influenced by the possibility that a parcel delivered to France might be held up and that the Prime Minister had failed to brief the country as to this consequence? Or, would your assertion be just another veiled excuse to  decry a decision United Kingdom citizens made which you, as a French citizen,  would appear to disagree with?
 3. My wife held her final 10 year France/EU cds from 2017. In October 2020 she submitted an application, when the renewal site opened, for a 10 year France/UK wag cds.  She received an acknowledgement of her application. The next communication, from the prefecture, was an email at the begining of January stating that she would be receiving her new wag cds shortly and that a signature would be required. On the 14th of January the factrice honked her horn and I went and signed for the letter that contained the cds. At no time between October and January was she required to submit any documents or attend any interviews or even return the outdated cds which I am now using to carefully remove old silicon from tiles where I am about to fit a new wash hand basin. To be honest I must acknowledge the fonctionaires, both admin and tax, in our department as whenever our paths have been required to cross they have responded in a professional, courteous and efficient manner.
 4. If the EU was a multinational, as you refer above, it would have been long shut down for fraud and corruption, even the maffia supports and contributes to worthy causes. The EU has not only well and truly shot its home and global image in the foot, during the past seven days, it has also handed the present United Kingdom government an opportunity to secure at least another follow on term in office.
 5.
But if the two are akin, that suggest that: the UK has signed a trade deal with Google as it has with the EU the UK has a reciprocal citizens' rights agreement for UK citizens and Google citizens the UK shares a trade border with Google as it does with the EU Etc.
It might have escaped your notice that the EU is actually not a country but an economic organisation, vis-à-vis Google. I suspect Google negotiates trade deals in any country where it has a presence. I suspect Google lays out customer terms and conditions and the company's obligations in any country where it has a presence. I suspect Google holds no borders to trade in any country where it has a presence.
 6.
Probably do better to petition Bojo to stop being a tw*t over granting the EU ambassador proper diplomatic status!
That would be akin to granting the HR head honcho of Google the same status.
 7.
I prefered Engrenages ..
BBC4 are broadcasting series 8 on Saturday evenings at the moment.
 8.
And this is the message:  Tous les rendez-vous de vaccination ont déjà été réservés. De nouvelles disponibilités seront accessibles dans les prochains jours.
I have just revisited my local centre's site and for 1st vaccination there is the above message. For 2nd vaccinations there are a handfull of appointments at the end of February and begining of March. However, only a couple of weeks ago the government was stating the reason for the slow vaccination rollout in France was due to 46% of french people's resistance to vaccinations. If that is the case, how is it two weeks down the line, when the vaccination programme is up and running, there are no 1st vaccinations available? Shouldn't there be at least 30% to 40% of appointments still available 24 hours after the rollout of the programme or was the governments statement just a propaganda exercise and lame excuse to cover up major inefficiencies in their ability to co-ordinate a national vaccination programme?
 9.
I was not aware that it is possible to make a second rdv at this stage. This was not mentioned when I made our rdv's.
I did a 'dry-run' yesterday to understand the  procedure for when I become of age, so to speak. Having entered 'sante.fr' the first page was Lieux de vaccination COVID-19 a scroll down list of departments and their vaccination centres. I selected the local hospital in my department which gave  two live links, a phone number and an option to prendre rendez-vous en ligne. I selected the on-line link and was connected to a page which contained a link motif de consultation  which when opened gave two choices, 1ere injection vaccin Covid-19 (Pfizer-BioNTec) or 2nde injection vaccin Covid-19 (Pfizer-BioNTec). For 1st injection there was a horizontal list of dates which was devoid of appointments, so I progressed and on the next page there was one appointment available on 25/01 at 14.25. I selected it and then selected the 2nd injection and it took me to dates, two weeks later, in February where each date had appointments available at five minitue intervals from 08.30 until 16.25. I was then obliged to accept the conditions and that I fitted the criteria but declined as I am still, by a few months, too young.
 10. Another pro-privacy/anonymity search engine in my list that I also use.
 11. Joe (president elect) Biden. Hmm? Considering he was a state senator from 1973 until 2009, before he went on to serve two terms as vice-president of the United States until 2017, he was in 2018 not the most well known person in Delaware, America's second smallest state, which he represented for 36 years.  That accolade fell to Aubrey Plaza, a 33 year old comedienne. All the US achieved on November the 3rd was to deselect one 70+ gadger only to elect another 70+ gadger. I wouldn't be at all suprised if he doesn't get to complete his full term in office but ends his time as just a shoe in for Kamala Harris sometime prior to the 2024 election. As to the original question 'spare a thought', well the above are my thoughts and  let's not lose sight of the fact that he chose to take the path he did.
 12. And meanwhile Mac(r)on has been busy spending €600,000 on flowers for the Elysee Palace even though, as far as I know, it is closed. You could certainly make a dint in the logistics issue with that amount of money. "The country will be different with my leadership"  Yeah, right.
 13. If you are to believe anything you read on the internet, that would have to include which platform you obtain your information from and I wouldn't be refering to the high profile commercial platforms in that belief, then Tor is as legitimate as the next browser. It was developed by 3 MIT geeks and funded by the US office of Naval Research in the mid 90's. It is built on open-source software which allows anyone under licence, including you, to develop it and re-distribute it in a similar fashion to the Linux os. The Libre Office suite mentioned above is the same sort of organisation where it was developed using Apache software. Firefox is another open-source program developed by Mozilla. The common denominator of the above organisations is that they are generally staffed by volunteers and funded by donations and subscriptions. If you use a vpn for internet browsing then your information and identity will be encrypted prior to it entering the Tor network where another three layers of encryption are added before being directed, via several different servers/nodes worldwide, to the server of the site you requested. All the servers will know where to send your request to but, because of encryption, will not know from where it came. Each server strips off a layer of encryption until the final push for your requested sites server which will push you onto the site as an un-encrpted user. This is why to access the likes of BBC iplayer etc you need to be un- encrypted from the last server, which must be a UK server, to theirs to enable it to believe you are UK resident. I believe they block any traffic carried by TOR for this reason.
 14.
Continuing to use Windows 8 + IE10(?) may leave you vulnerable to security problems, though. I'm not sure either are supported nowadays. But others will have better knowledge, i'm sure, so I'm happy to be corrected on that.
Win 7 is no longer supported and although win 8:1 mainstream support ceased in 2018 its operating system support and updates will reach 'end of life' support in January 2023. It should remain secure but will not have any design feature updates. It is still possible to update w8 to w10 free. Microsoft free edition is no longer available but by downloading their 'media creation tool' the upgrade process can be made by use of this tool.
For search  I use https://duckduckgo.com/
It is also one of my browser choces.  However, if you wish to leave no footprint whatsoever whilst retaining your anonymity, then THIS is the way to go.
 15. Do you know how to access file explorer?
 16.
'Taking the OP at face value…' I am so glad that you said that, Catalpa. [What I was in fact thinking !]
Understandable. Their handle is, after all, an anagram of - 'f sauternes'.
 17. If any of you are unaware of THIS site, you will find everything you need/want to know regarding your city, town, village or hamlet from info. of Covid cases since the pandemic kicked off last year, through companies and who owns them, to how many households in your area pay income, habitation and fonciere taxes. I frequently make reference to it, so I'll say "good reading to you all".
 18.
Alas, I had such hope when they appointed that specialist doctor in overall charge but we have heard zilch about him lately?
I expect he will still be accepting the fee that the appointment offered for such a position.
 19.
Can it really be as simple as that? If the paperwork shows the OP as a sub contractor working for the broker, wouldn't he have to go through customs as freight and wouldn't that potentially mean him having his CPC and his van being licensed and insured as a commercial vehicle?
Yes, in a nutshell. The broker will need to document the hauliers details on the carnet. If the op was to decide to self haul in their own vehicle then they would be the haulier. If the materials and tools are owned and for the sole personal use of the op and are not commercial goods or are not for resale it will not be necessary for him/her to be a licenced haulier and the freight will be classed as personal freight. How do I know this?  I've done it myself, albeit in the 1980's, way before the freedom of movement of people, goods and services was adopted by the EU. I needed to import some personal high value equiptment to our home in France and for reasons of peace of mind I was not prepared to leave the security, safety and transportation of thes items to any old Tom, Dick or Harry haulier to do the business.  I approached a broker and they explained the necessary, did the paperwork and off I went. I suspect following brexit the procedures will have reverted, if not to the same then similar, to  the procedures I experienced.  Everything went smoothly through both customs and I successfully transported the equiptment and myself to my home unscathed.
 20.
It is a good question. I guess you will need some kind of customs declaration and may have to pay import duties on things that are new. Might be best getting the bits shipped out with a freight/removals company. Let them deal with it.
As above. However, if I were in your situation, I would engage the services of a shipping broker and furnish them with all the details they require to export your materials from where you presently have them (you haven't stated what country they are stored in.) and to import them into France. Obviously there will be a fee for this service but to reduce your costs considerably the broker should be able to select you as the sub-contractor to transport the goods in the appropriate size/capacity of vehicle you have at your disposal and that you are licenced to drive.
 21.
Boris's father has applied for residential status, poor france!
I think you'll find that Stanley Johnson's mother was born in Versailles and his grandmother was French. He is applying for a French passport for the purposes of dual nationality.
 22. This time I will post this on the correct thread Tuesday afternoon my wife and I were at a pharmacy to receive our annual flu vaccination. This is the 2nd year we have taken up the Amelli offer and last year we were done during the 2nd week of November. "Why so late in the season this year?" you might ask. Because of the much higher uptake of the offer this year demand has outstripped supply.  This particular pharmacy received their 2nd batch of the vaccine on Saturday and as we were there then we were able to make an appointment for Tuesday. While we were awaiting the injections I observed there were 5 dispencing units open for business and all had lengthy queues waiting to be served. This was, I would add, just a 20 minute snapshot on one Tuesday afternoon in December. And the significance to this anecdote? If there was to be an annual global award to present to the nation with the highest hypocondriac percentage per head of population we all know which nation would annualy sweep the board. France??? For the "ministère de la Santé" to quote "Face à un très fort scepticisme dans la population française, nous avons fait le choix de prendre le temps nécessaire pour installer cette vaccination." is nothing more than a crock of ....(insert your own expletive). We all know how surveys can be manipulated to generate the result an organisation/state requires to enable them to or not to implement their own particular agenda. However, I do concur that to distrbute the doses  under the necessary conditions will be a logistical nightmare for someone. To add, it seems that the state is capable of organising national manoeuvers by delivering 100,000 extra police and gendarmes on to the streets of France tonight to control any partying, celebrations or raves which might develop. Just saying.
 23. Covid-19 of any strain will have free rein globally whilst the likes of Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, when attending EU type summits continues to shake hands with the attendees and maintains his total disregard for social distancing and keeping out of others faces on these occasions. I also find it unacceptable that the self same Macron, who creates the rules and regulations with aplomb, hosts an informal meal at the Eleysee for 12 - yes that's 12, 6 over the allowed grouping, which continues until 00.30, four and a half hours after the 20.00 curfew hour he implemented the previous day. It would appear to me that Macron, who sets the height of the bar, expects us to limbo beneath it whereas he finds it acceptable for himself and his ilk to side step it and manoeuver their way around it. Like the majority of today's leaders he is highly skilled in gesture politics and performing to the gallery. Unfortunately those gestures have been shown to invariably come back and bite them on the a.ss.
 24. To early to say whether it's time to breakout the popcorn on this one or not. Perhaps someone will pass by and explain to me why emigrants from the UK continually have the knives out and are constantly b*tch*ng about the UK administration but fail miserably in their condemnation of the administrations of their countries of residence. There but for the grace....... that I don't find myself in the unenviable position of having to make life changing deciisions on behalf of a nation where, it would seem, so many appear to be armchair experts on dealing with the covid and brexit situations.
