  1. I didn't want to part with any of them, but there was a strong desire to buy in France, mortgage free (although someone managed to cock that up for us anyway!) The Triton was lovely to look at, and had some unique features. Five speed Quaiffe gearbox, Borrini ali' rims with HUGE 4 leading show drum brakes. It was as hard as hell to ride, very stiff in the suspension, and a real footfull to kick start and had a rock hard seat, but did it go!!!!, still Like my Paso now[:D]
  2. Well done, wondered how it was going! I can recommend the Suzuki Burgman 400 or 600, but stay clear of the BMW thing with the roof! The only thing with these scooters is the small wheels, makes the steering much quicker, but you sound like your already on top of that. My mate lent me his Burgman (a 600) and it was a revelation, press the button and whoosh!!!!!
  3. A Ducati Paso isn't really old enough is it? Until recently I had a Triton, T120R, a TRIBSA and a BSA C15, but they went we we moved.
  4. That is right. Our friends up the road brought their box from Ireland, and ITV3 is the Irish version, whereas we moved ours from Brighton, Sussex, to France, and our ITV is the Meridian, we cannot swap cards (he asked me because of a football match!). You can get CH4 and % on Freeview, you replace the Skycard and it's basic package, subscription £15 per month, for a one off payment FTV card that is about £20
  5. I have to say I have phoned SKY from France numerous times, and when one considers that your going into a huge call centre to be answered, I cannot see how, or why, they would trace the call. I've never had a problem, and even had one chap explaining to me how to beat the system! When we returning home from visits to the UK we sometimes have poor reception, or have lost channels. I just call up, explain that we are restoring the house and the SKY box is no where near a phone line to plug it in, and they do it all over the dish. I suspect all the time your paying, they really don't care!!
  6. That all sounds so familiar! As I have posted elsewhere, I have decided to convert the large downstairs portion of our house in to some further bedrooms, and a "craft" kitchen for my better half, and a self contained apartment for visitors. Gives them independence and means we're not butler and servant! And "if" the friends once removed, asl about staying, the answer is yes, it will cost a small amount!!! It's not an easy one though is it[8-)]
  7. Our house is built on the side of a hill, so downstairs is as big as upstairs. It will be spilt in two. One side, two extra "summer" bedrooms (it's cooler), and a extra kitchen for the better half to do her jams and candle making etc etc. The other part will be an apartment for visitors (always nice to have some independance!). and that will be two bedrooms, alounge diner and kitchen, all sort of open plan, with a seperate  bathroom/wc. So there will be the odd wall (mainly the ones that are there holding the house up!), with two extra stud walls. All these walls I guess will transmit sounds from upstairs as well. So in summary seven rooms, but two of them big and open plan.
  8. Suzi When we first got the house I was checking levels, readings and mixes daily, then my French neighbour said "why, once a week, or look at it". I am more chilled about it now, and have got used to seeing that it's harder to keep right, so then check the CL, Christophe still laughs, he has the same pool and set up, and he just "tips in 50kgs of salt in once every six months". His pool is always spotless!! Ah W.C such an aoposite quote for French living!!
  9. I'm in the process of putting some more living space down stairs in our house. The house is approx' 15 years old, and has concrete floors, which are screeded, then tiled. I have the metal and platerboard ceiling system to go up, but before I do, I need to sound proof between because when downstairs, I can even hear the dog walking about!  Whats the best way, the cheapest way, the usual way etc etc??
  10. So the salt has traveled the system. My system is the same, no real indication it's working, and easily affected by other conditions. One "engineer" that looked at our pool checked for bubbles off the electrodes after he back washed, muttered something, then said "yes, is ok".
  11. Bob, cheers, most kind. We travel back next Friday (15th?) but the first week we're filming old race tracks in the area for Yesterdays Racers.com, but after that, a beer a bar be que and a starter might be the way forward!! Enjoy the ride out everone!!
  12. Didn't explain myself too well there did I!!?? The pool was just out of gaurantee when we moved in (Magiline installed it) which is why I am asking. The pool was drained down for the winter, and it was the flooded cellar that alerted me to how much water had fallen, which made me go and check the pool. It looks like the water had got in and bulged the liner out because it was drained, as the crease starts where the water finished. The liner has freed itself as well as there are two clips out, and I cannot even get those back in! Magiline said it would be about 600 euros to fix, but haven't been out to see it, and can't get to it this year (!!!!), hence the reason I was looking myself
  13. When we moved into our house, pool had just been installed, and we have yet to pave around it. Regardless that we are 675 feet above sea level, we had a flood in our cellar, and on checking the pool we found the line had popped out in one corner, and a crease has appeared. This crease appears solid, so I assume there is a foam barrier that has collapsed down behind the liner? I am due to "open up" the pool, but while the level is low, I thought I moght be able to take a look. It doesn't seem a massive repair, but I'm more mechanical. Anyone encountered anything like this? I'm worried about water getting in behind the liner now!
  14. That's a shame Bob, I'm in the UK until the 15th, mind you I still haven't fitted the starter so.............. Have a good run out people
  15. sorry, attack of "fat finger syndrome" which is no excuse, should have read it back[:(]
  16. The company I write and present a motorsport DVD for (Yesterdays Racers.com), are coming down to my house filming this month. We're going to two circuits, now mainly disused http://translate.google.com/ still has stands etc and is between Toulouse and Pau, then we're filming at Cadours, where Raymond Somner died in a Cooper. Again still nearly all there, stands and all............. link shortened by a mod
  17. I'm looking at the forecast box that pops up in the corner of the screen while I'm typing, which is telling me 79 partly cloudy for Sunday, I suppose it's a bit like believeing a horoscope!
  18. Jealous, me? No. Back in the UK, and had to put the fire on. Ducati, still in the garage in France, where it was 79 and sunny, and proper food, yeah, I'm jealous!!!
  19. We're not far from Bergerac (Belves) and they meet up at the local airfield sometimes and fly models, some quite big (a four engined  B17 a few weeks back), but there doesn't seem to be a dedicated club. In Periguex there is a superb R/C car track, but again no club info (I've been looking for a club for my r/c unlimited hydro, and Bluebird k3), maybe it's a solitary pursuit in France
  20. I was going to do all the extra LNB thing, but decided to hold off for a while. Went to Weldom and got a "rabbit" a short range rf transmitter that radios the signal from the SKY box to a reciever plugged into the telly in our bedroom, works brilliantly and cost 32euros. It's a cheaper option if you don't need to see a different channel on each set.
  21. As an aside, why are some French cars running around on red number plates with silver letters?
  22. Just arrived back in the UK for physio and a check up with the surgeon. I actually drove the car on the way back, well to be honest, I did the motorway stints, and once I had pulled away I wasn't using the clutch, the joys of learning to drive at a young age, racing! Now I'm moving about the house without the cast, and sometimes with only one stick, yet it STILL feels like I am not progressing. Very frustrating![:@]
  23. Forgive me if this has been posted, but I'm going for it, and have already sourced the required bits (Ebay of course!!). http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/logo.htm I'm also considering just waxing the neck as opposed to laquering. Good idea??
