1. After a flight back to the UK and a 5 hour drive up to Scotland I've finally got my Whippet Pup She's with family while the 21 days elapses for her Rabies Injections to count and then it's a 2 day journey back to her new home Her pet name is Maya and her KC name is Dumyat Highland Lassie Her parents are both Blue's and her brothers are the same so maybe her one and only litter will produce a few Blue's but that's for the future Anyone suggest the best age for a whippet to have a litter Not car sick and waited till we stopped to go to the toilet so, so far so good Many thanks for everyones help John
2. No, that's the 2042c which can be required together with the 2042 if you have earned income The 2042 is, I think, the "normal" form that most non-working people get. I'll have to wait till beginning of May maybe Thanks anyway JB
3. Thanks andyh4 & tinabee The only complete forms I can find are for 2012 so I'll wait till May and try again JB
4. I'm trying to help our new English neighbours with their first tax returns and can't find anywhere to download the 2042 front sheet The Impot website does not offer the 2042 althought it says it does and this forums link to the downloads has stopped working. The links elsewhere on the internet let you download the form but not the first page for some reason. Again they say its available to download I've got the 2047 & 3916 downloaded and printed and wanted to send them off to the Tax Office armed with all 3 forms completed plus passports etc Is it usual for a delay in making the complete form available to download JB
5. The forum is mainly about people expressing opinions. The lesson you need, is to know when you are are being opinionated It's a waste of an argument because opting out is not an option anyway I'm off to spend my Mega bucks[:P] Enjoy the sunshine JB
6. Gardian, you assume I'm single, for 1 person you are right its 559 euro tax, for a couple its 200 euro I didn't say you can have a choice of opting in or out, I was making the point its academic anyway unless your LG pension is mega bucks IMO the reason its a none starter is the employer's contributions ( Council, in my case ) far exceeds my contributions to my pension fund therefore its only fair that the government claw back some of their money they indirectly paid in when its comes to be paid out as a pension I for one are happy with the way it works now JB
7. On the question of is it worth opting out of the DTT With a local authority pension of 22k and a state pension of 7k you would pay 200 euro a year tax ( 4 euro a week, tax on a UK bottle of wine ) Using the France individual form for your state pension, making it none taxable and not reducing your UK tax allowance you pay less tax on your local authority pension in the UK balancing the figures. IMHO You need a LA pension of over 30k to make it worth bothering with JB

Cialis

A friend of mine had prostate cancer surgery which resulted in ED.  He went on to have 10 weeks of electrical stimulation therapy, which he said was really uncomfortable but it did the trick and is back to normal. At the end of the day its the skill of the surgeon in avoiding nerves in that area that determines the outcome but the therapy did work in this case JB
9. What makes it even more silly is that for the test the speedo and therefore the odometer does not even have to work as long as its illuminated. At least that was the case with the MOT 10 years ago [:)]
10. Our friend has a "State of the Art" Hybrid Duo Heating System and his only criticism is you pay "State of the Art" prices when it comes to  service and repairs so IMHO go for a good service contract. He's had people look at the system and walk away perplexed JB
11. You are so right AnOther but I do feel better having a moan about it[:D] Takes all sorts ! JB
12. Update. Received my letter confirming my Pension   You are entitled to your State Pension when you are 65, not true! If your 65th birthday falls on a Monday and your NI Number ends with a 90+ you are not entitled until 6 days after, on the Saturday Apparently the HM Gov week starts on a Saturday and they only pay full weeks of pension from their week start date So now there's no adjustments for part weeks. Cynically, I would say the only winners are HM Pensions with this JB[:(]
13. Thanks for that Jay & Gardian I too wondered about leaving it to the lady in the shop but when I known I've won she always given me my money and sometimes when I don't know. I buy mine in 4 weekly lots and very rarely don't win at least a few euro's. Did win £2500 once so still in credit JB
14. Now that the Euro Millions has increased to 2.50 Euro a shot & changed to include "Codes my millions" Anyone know the website where I can check if I've won. I've used the UK website in the past for the normal draw but it does not include the new chance of winning
15. Two things you can do for yourself is buy a Tin of Tyre Sealer / Inflater  amd a set of Jump Leads.( learn how to use them, safely) If someone does stop, to help with a flat battery, at least it does not rely on them having Jump Leads as well as being kind hearted. Many will say that Tyre Sealer is rubbish and will not work but at least its worth a try if its dark, wet and cold on an un-paved road and the garage have over tightened the wheel nuts with an air-tool Hopefully you will never need them JB
16. Prices from Antargaz, as of today 1,959.10 Euro per Tonne plus Tax Bear in mind that the first 25% stays in the tank as reserve and you can only fill up to 85% full so for a 1 Tonne Capacity Tank the most you can normally top up is 600kgs. With Antargaz you can opt for them topping up the tank when they are local but the amount per month they want by direct debit IMHO is well over the top, meaning they are always in pocket by a mile JB
17. You're right Betty, it is a big improvement it had to be because the old site was terrible, with so many bugs I use Ryanair about 10 times a year with family visiting etc so its a bonus Car hire still goes right up in price if you re-visit the site after finding your flights and getting a quote for car hire so try to book it on your first visit
18. For me, the fact that you have to opt out of so many things with Bryanair is the most frustrating thing. Once you've booked a few times you see how each item can be de-selected Can they think we are dim enough to add things to our booking just because they are offered ( Don't answer that, I have ten RA Flight Bags [:D]) Its just a game that needs to be played if you want cheap flights JB
19. Thanks Val, I'll make some calls John
20. Thanks Bobdude, Of the dogs we have had the whippet was a bit special. The only thing we gave ground on with it was it needed to sleep at my son's feet at night. Thats probably in their genes from when coal miners kept them for rabbiting and thats where they slept along with a Jack Russell Could you email with their phone number or email address. I can wait for the next litter ! Hull to Zeebrugge is my prefered route and I could stay on route at Orleans to break the journey up Thanks again, John
21. Thanks Dave He's tried, in the past, to sell it for spares but he didn't want to be left with a dismantled wreck in the garden and no one would take it all I'll mention LeBoncoin again to him JB
22. I accept some of your points EuroTrash but I did start by saying "please do the maths" I was never happy putting my vehicle across the center of the road so I could see if anything was coming the other way when driving behind an HGV or worse a close-coupled Truck and Trailer . If you are on your own in the car its even harder to overtake. IMHO Another friend tried to part ex his RHD Landrover for a new C4 and was told a big fat NO by the Main Dealer so now it sits in the garden rusting JB
23. Please do the maths before you bring the car over The secondhand value will drop like a stone The Certificate of  Comformity cost my friend £140 for a Citroen C8 plus £130 to register, plus new plates at a premium! Plus, in some cases, new headlights,up to £1000 a pair and an MOT I ended up taking my car back to the UK and selling it there because of the overtaking blindspot issue John
24. Thanks Pommier Never thought to look on leboncoin I'll see if there are any puppies left for sale If not I'll try further into the Country John

Whippet Pup

I would like to buy a Whippet Puppy this year and would welcome any advice. I've kept dogs and the breed before so its more about sourcing the dog than its welfare I'm keen to have a true breed but I'm not interested in pedigree, showing the dog or future breeding It will just be a pet and companion Ideally it would be a female and light fawn or blue in colour I had an idea of buying a pup in the UK and bringing it here overland but it seems a big ask from a puppy ( 2 days travel ) JB
