  1. Fresh pruduce is not really a problem but jams etc should be made in a commercial kitchen that is why we no longer sell them on the markets too costly to set up.but you should be registered. Theherbman
  2. Me my van will not break the speed limit I use otto to pull me to market. Mel
  3. New rules state that you must now be reg at your marie this new rule came into force 4 Aug 2007 J.O No 179 du 4 aout 2007 page 13103 text No 8  Décret no 2007-1173 relatiif aux chambres d'hotes et modifiant le code du tourisme.  Can be found on Legifrance service public de l'accès au droit (code du tourisme) artical 1 sec 2 Art D 324-13/15.But I suspect you dont want to hear about this either Phone or go to your Ch de Com and let us all know what they say. "Half the total income in France" if you dont have a job here, then any money earned is your total income, is it not? thus you must be registered. That is not to say you will pay any charges or Tax which I suspect is the main reason for the posting, but if may effect any capital gain if the house is sold. Mel
  4. Please tell me how one can get a British E.U.licence when one is living here in France with no address for it to be sent to in Britain. You need a French one if you have to have points deducted/added for breaking the law.
  5. If a builder is registered i.e. pays tax social dues etc in any eec country he is free to work in another eec country. The cost factor of bringing someone here with fares running about fetching materials feeding them ect and not knowing that the French norms are not being broken is another thing.Would you bring a someone from  the south of France to work in the north? The main reason for useing British builders not living here is the fact that most people do not have the French to say what they want done. There are many fantastic british builders living in france but there are also a lot of Brits here that although are reg here speak English a lot better than they can build and charge for that as well I wonder if these builders will still be around in 15 years local lads have to live here there family are here and so is there reputation. Maybe all those people who bring materials from England that dont have norm francais on them should check with there insurance companys. I know of sombody who plumbed their house with British goods the house flooded and the payout was nil. Mel
  6. Minimum wage is around 8 euro an hour If I earned 20k a year I would consider myself to be rich. The real world beckons.
  7. There is a "bio" version available. In French organic is chemical and bio is not. In English its the other way round. Good air flow around the plants and low humidity is the answer very difficult in the greenhouse at this time of year. Mel
Make of it what you will. Mel
  9. Tax is one thing, Registration another. Are you saying that you can earn up to 76300 euro without registration? I dont earn anywhere near that but I have to register,I was under the impression that to earn money as self employed person here in France you had to have a siren/siret no. If what you say is true then nobody would be paying any cotisations at all and we would all be well off.???? Mel
  10. You have a British passport then? No problem. Only members of the enlarged E.E.C. (after 2004) plus any other nationality needs a work-permit /carte de sejour. However if you have non british parents that could be another thing.
  11. I don't think that working on the black means working for cash I work selling plants on the markets and I'm paid cash 99% of the time its people who work without being registered at all that should be strung up and kicked out. The same people that have left England to live here because of all the foreigners. But of couse Brits are called expats not foreigners and I suppose that makes a differance.
  12. Dare I say it. What about getting a French driving licence? Problem solved in one you have to carry your licence so why not let it be a French one. By your posting you live here full time so I can't see a problem. Mel
  13. Funny how things change. When I bought here 20 odd years ago I could only afford an old house new build was not an option, as it was in England 40 odd years ago. The money pit I have still has the "P" word but at a cost. Me I would have new build with old materials Central heating with the option of open fire. Chopping wood is hard work and the place is always dusty. I love the "charm" of old houses but as I get older I dont want work of "doing them up"or the continual housework needed to keep them dust free. I work outside most of the year and dont need a cold house when I come home doing everthing my ones self is a chore.. However if one wants to live in the countryside in a newbuild it must blend in, and newbuild in old style build costs a lot of money Catch 22. Mel
  14. You have to quench copper in water to anneal it. The opposite for steel anyway only the bit that needs bending has to be annealed not the whole length. Mel
