Ive been using an advent laptop here no problems dont worry about import duty and getting conncted is easy enuf choose a provider make sure your bristish stuff wont interfere with installation insert disc and follow info would be interested if anyone has a laptop with both uk and french serviced providers on it andif there are any config problems

try living on 5000 euros a year minus charges i thought i understood for instance you are allowed to sell up to 5 cars per year before it is classed as a business this could easily reach over 5000 euros per annum but yes it would be personal items and i wasnt considering buying and selling as a business plan so if i put your reasoning into the equation maybe ill try and sell some of my bordel thanks

so for example how would 5000 euros per annum be considered ? i presume submitting this amount on my declaration de revenue will make me liable to being taxed on the revenue as a particulier or would i be considered as having some sort of business and thus beliable to registera business and all that entails

thanks yes im slowly coming to grips with the regs concerning the instalation going back to your point about class II equipment why should they not be bonded to earth? i understand they are labelled with two squares one inside the other what other equipment is likely to be in this class? is this equipment already earthed within itself ? and does earthing it then interfere with its allready safe state? its difficult learning something like this in a forein language  ive found a few books and some sites but the language technical and french makes some stuff ambiguos and difficult to understand the loveof my life is french but understanding the technical nuances of the french norms and regs isnt one of her strong points.

rising damp - think you should leave a gap between the floor and the bottom of the placo plat and get hydrofugee plasterboard which is damp resistant and they also putbreathing holes in the placo to let it all breath apparantly you can get little plastic covers for the breathing holes

not sure either but from what i can understand the disjonteur differentials are used to protect the freezer and your computer a seperate disjonteur for the freezer with a  single line going only to the freezer and a disjoncter for your computer installation with a single line going to your comptuters in theory they should protect each line eliminating problems from the rest of the electric circuit so that your freezer and computers will not trip if there is a problem else where. as far as three phase goes probablybest to let the leccy sort it out or get some good advice before you play with it hope this helps wish i understood it betterbut its all in french
