1. I may sound a bit offensive here, it is not meant that way, but why should the French tax system support your parents in the UK? Does that mean I should get a French tax rebate for sending money for my son in the UK? I would not have the cheek to ask for any.
2. Yahoo.fr is a website and not a program. Openoffice writer is a program and not a document.
3.
Oh dear it doesn't sound too promising does it?  I'll try my luck at the centre des impots in Mortain this afternoon (Basse Normandie) and let you know how I get on. Just phoned Citroen UK and they will supply me with a French certificate of conformity for the princely sum of £100. Thanks for all your help so far!!! Pix[:-))]
Cannot understand why anyone should ask for a French CofC when it is a European document whatever language it is written in.
4. An insurance company has no jurisdiction and so cannot tell you where to get a CofC from. It is the prefecture who handle the CofC and as it is a European document, you can get it from Ford UK.
5. Who has told you? If your car is later than 2000 then try to get one from Ford UK, it may be free.
6. A French licence is an EU one, just as a UK one is.
7. You could not go by hovercraft anyway, they stopped running about 10 years ago!
8. I would not worry too much about spending cuts in the UK. The BBC news has just said that the visit by the Pope over the next week will cost the UK taxpayer £10 to 15 million, not including policing. What a waste of money.
9. Steve, if that was not so ugly it would be a nice bike! :-)
10. I know someone in my village who has an E109 from her husbands work in the UK and she works full time here on the black! Makes me mad to see people conning the system like that..
11. Thanks Reg, will try that. Can't do it now as there is no mobile phone signal at our house.
12. Looks fine but you are paying an extra €100 or so for a French version of Windows.
13. I have a neufbox from SFR which is for my internet and has my phone plugged into it. When I pick up the telephone to make a call, a voice tells me that I have a new message before it gives me a dial tone. Thing is I have no messages, the answering machine on the neufbox is switched off. If I go into the sfr page with phone messages there are none there. I have tried switching the answer machine in the neufbox on to check for messages and then switched it off again as there are none. Does anyone know how to get rid of this annoying voice?
14.
I recently did exactly what you want to do. This place will build something to your exact requirements, or you can buy one of their off the shelf 'towers'. They will also send it to France. Everything will be in English for you, including OS, if you need it.
Just looked at that site but the €199 system that I could get in France would work out at £188 (€229) plus postage, and have much slower DDR2 RAM rather than DDR3. Not everything in the UK is cheaper.
15. More than 4 GB of memory then you will have to use a 64 bit OS or the OS won't see more than 4 Gb. I do HD video editing and have never needed more than the 4 Gb that I have on a 64 bit OS.
16. A friend has just ordered a tower with PSU, AMD processor and 2 gb DDR3 memory. It comes with a SATA hard disk and an IDE plug on the board. Ideal for an upgrade and very upgradeable for €199 in France. He will use his existing keyboard and screen and will install his copy of windows onto it as the old PC is being moved over to Ubuntu Linux to give it a new lease of life.
17. Insurance companies are businesses and can stipulate whatever conditions that they want.

Do you fill in a French tax return?
19. With what they send you, you will probably have to visit a Honda dealer to check lights, speedo and power output. After that that you should get the CofC. If the bike is newer than 2002 why don't you ask Honda UK to supply one? They may do that for free as long as the bike is not a grey import.
20. Second post in this thread, 19.6% TVA.
21. Just read Moondrop and could not put it down!
22. There is no restriction on registering a RHD here. You will have to pay French VAT when you register it here though, and that will be at 19.6% rather than the UK 17.5%.
23. The word robbery in the subject seems wrong to me, I think of robbery as someone who takes money off you against your will and offers nothing in return. In this case you have the choice of paying for a service at their price or not.
24. Here you go Martin a Panasonic for sale in France here.
