  1. Perhaps if so few bake then demand for flour is low so supermarkets are taking it off the shelves and stocking the shelves with the highly desirable bog roll.
  2. By contrast a friend went to the pharmacy in the local town to collect medication complete with duly completed form...and she was stopped twice.
  3. There was an interesting entry on a thread on BBC Internet News concerning a US research lab under the control of the Pentagon and references to it being deleted.
  4. Norman wrote: 'I have a supply of basic foodstuffs but will have to find out what to so with them. The same is true of loo paper' I am sure that there must be a youtube on what to do with loo rolls
  5. Mmm, but I wonder what these directors said to these young impressionable girls? 'I can make you a star', 'you will go a long way in this industry', 'I could use you in my next big film' etc 'just be good to me and by the way I can make sure no other director will use you'. Then there are the cases where the female victim feels embarrassed and whose past life will be brought up and cross examined in minute detail. Perhaps a corner is being turned but look at the number of successful rape cases there are which is very low. One of the problems with rape is that it is a case of no independent witnesses and how good a defence team the accused can afford!
  6. Idun wrote: 'I am glad that Weinstein got his comeuppence, he deserved it, but I have little time for the women who did not clout him all those years ago and walk out.' But could it have been that he was such a powerful figure that if they had said anything his 'pals' (most directors are male) would have blacklisted the woman so the woman would loose their livelihood.
  7. Pomme thanks for the BIP&GO mention. Have now signed up with them rather than take the easytrip route. My reasoning: Was the Alis move to easytrip simply a way of increasing the cost - is easytrip part of the same group as Alis? And what is the link between easytrip and this new crowd - is it a simple name and price increase change. BIP&GO seems about the same cost as the new crowd but why should I play easytrips game.
  8. So I received the email on 3rd March, deactivation happens on 15 April so last date it can be used is 14 April but add 30 days to 3 March and that takes you to 3rd April they want it back if you do not take their 'kind and generous' offer. One would have thought it would have been 30 days from 15 April.
  9. Gardian yes it will be a bad move for the viewer if the 6N disappears from fta. However, it must be a little 'annoying' to, say, those behind 6N that they cannot go after the big money from the non fta broadcasters whilst other sports, test cricket is one example, can.
  10. Sorry I am going to put my head above the parapet..... A GE does not only decide on the state pension. It decides on a whole host of other things that directly affect those living in the UK that will have no effect on ex-pats. Things that come to mind is the funding of NHS, infrastructure, all forms of taxation (income tax will only affect the like of ex civil servants), police funding, council funding etc etc.....none of which will affect ex-pats. Am I being cynical if I think that Bonzo thinks that most ex-pats will vote Tory?
  11. I second it being a shame. And it can be a problem getting back on the forum when you are logged out.
  12. Now why did UK broadcasters change to a narrow beam a few years back requiring the purchase and erection of far larger satellite dishes for reception of UK TV in France - because of the geographical rights.
  13. Here you are WB somewhere for your next holiday: https://www.businessinsider.com/hotel-costa-verde-airplane-suite-fuselage-boeing-727-photos-2018-7?r=US&IR=T
  14. Back to the thread..... Now have someone sharing so cheaper trips than making a 'normal' booking for each trip.
  15. The BBC have run a series of programmes called 'Inside the Factory'. Here they show the process for producing, say, biscuits, and wrapped in plastic. These are packed in to boxes then loaded on a pallet and then a huge amount of film is wrapped around the pallet. And it is common across manufacture of all sorts of products. Seems that the ordinary person only makes a small contribution to the overall waste. Then there are, say, packets of ham in a plastic tray with a plastic film lid. Turn them over and it will state 'currently unrecyclable' or 'check with your local authority' without stating what the plastic is. Here in Lincolnshire there are a number of Borough Councils withing Lincolnshire County Council. Each borough has a different list of what can be recycled.......and they all use the same recycling company!
  16. Until 31/12 nothing changes apart from the UK has not input to the EU except for paying in to the coffers.

Idun if you are referring to my post about Air Miles Andy then I was being facetious.

If I remember right the British authorities have interviewed Anne Sacoolos - UK police officers flew out to do it. The UK should be saying to the US 'if you will not extradite her then do not apply for anyone to be extradited from the UK'. As for Prince Andrew I feel sorry for him. He has obviously done nothing wrong and knows nothing and as for those terrible faked photos of him with his arm around a 17 year old. No doubt Mummy and big Brother are giving him a lot of support! Watched a programme the other day and it was a scammer based in Florida scamming people in the UK. The US authorities would not close the operation down because people in the US were not being scammed.
  19. Just read the Australians are going to be quarantined on Christmas Island. Sorry if this offends but: The ex-pats in China are making a fuss about why the UK is not repatriating them. Just a minute, they have decided to move to China but expects those still resident in the UK to fund the repatriation.
  20. Pomme thank you for reading the post and yes £48 / trip. Nick, yes, the price rises faster than inflation. The main reason for using the tunnel is that we have a rescue dog. He had been used as a bait dog in dog fighting and is very seriously psychological damaged - not to mention the physical scars. He would be absolutely terrified being left on a car deck. The other reason of course being the speed and convenience of the tunnel.
  21. As the subject I will not use the 10 trips - probably only 4 or 6. Eurotunnel allow these to be shared but only when setting up the account. Can be flexible on how the 10 trips are shared. The current cost is £480 for the 10 trips i.e. £38 each trip. There are supplements for non off-peak travel: Off Peak Folkestone to Calais - 16:00 to 05:59 Calais to Folkestone - 00:00 to 13:59 Peak Supplements (for times outside of above) £20 but on a few dates £30. More details here: https://www.eurotunnel.com/uk/tickets-and-fares/types/frequent-traveller/ and here https://www.eurotunnel.com/uk/tickets-and-fares/types/frequent-traveller/peak-times/
  22. In 2018 there was an air crash that killed 189 people and then in 2019 another crash that killed 157 people. These were not terror related but due to design faults that seemingly were brushed under the carpet and a 'lets cross our fingers' attitude. None of this terrorist yet we trust the aircraft manufacturers Is it harder for terrorists to board planes now? It would seem that ground targets are favoured - easy to get to and cause mass panic plus the chance of getting away unless you plan on blowing yourself up. Think Manchester bombing and the fun and games in Paris. But overall think of the percentage of people affected by these and it is very very small - a far greater chance of winning the lottery than being involved in terrorist attacks. Spreading fear is an excellent and cheap tool. Perhaps we should not assist in this and get on with life - just watch out for the banana skins. As an afterthought the papers often have a story about someone being killed by a hit and run driver. Multiply that up by the countries in the world, some of them with very bad driver standards and how many people are killed per year this way......compare that with the worst year for air passenger deaths by terrorist activity and how do you think they will compare.
  23. you can look on sites such as avherald.com to generally see how few incidents that there are. The aircraft crews are constantly flying and I am sure that they would not be flying of they felt the risk was high. In addition would companies want their aircraft in the air if there was a risk. I am sure that behind the scenes security has been ramped up. If you look at number of flight for each passenger death the number is very high. You will have more chance of being killed driving to the airport than by flying.
