  1. I marinade in a white wine marinade for three days and then slow roast it as you would for any roast meat. Don't throw the marinade away. Blitz the vegetables and remove any sprigs of herbs and use it to make the gravy. Have been doing this for some years and the meat falls off the bone. if you want exact details, PM me
  2. Carrefour and Leclerc in Limoges are both close to your route and are reasonable for bedding. Myself, I buy mine online at Dunelm in the UK and have my sister send it by courier. It arrives within 48 hours. Quality for the price is much better
  3. There is to be an "eat as much as you want" evening on Saturday 30th October at the Chez Caouette restaurant in Eymoutiers. The price of 23 euros includes as many helpings as you can eat of mussels with fries and your choice of any dessert from the menu. You need to book to ensure plentiful supplies!! Tel: 0555 691515 http://www.chezcaouette.com
  4. I'm afraid that your reply relies on broadband access and, as I said in my query, ADSL/broadband is unavailable in my area.  The problem is finding an internet provider who provides a service for the very few who cannot access broadband.  Free used to be the answer but they have not updated their service to comply with Vista or Applemac version 10.  Thanks for making the effort to reply.   Chris
  5. Have recently arrived for the summer with my new AppleMac version ten laptop. Have tried to connect to Free but it is not compatible with version 10.  There is no possibilty of ADSL in my area.  Can anyone suggest the best way of getting internet access using dial up? Grateful for any suggestions.
  6. I was in M. Bricolage in Limoges yesterday and they had them on offer.  Not sure of the price but they always have them in stock.
  7. Having owned and bred dogs for over thirty years, I would suspect the most likely cause to be a food allergy. I never cease to be amazed at how many dogs are allergic to beef. Try a complete diet based on chicken and rice and, preferably, no artificial additives. This does not need to cost the earth as most common brands, such as Purina, will have such a diet at your local supplier.
  8. Have been too busy to access the Forum but have just seen this.  If I can be of any help let me know. Huskies, especially lone huskies can be difficult. I should know as I have had the breed for over thirty years and I still haven't fathomed them out completely! At my peak, when we were racing and showing throughout Europe, I had nearly thirty but now have just six pensioners. My eldest is sixteen and the yongest twelve so our working days are over. Including my own.  As you can gather, difficult or not, I wouldn't change my breed for the world. Forgive me if you know this already, but I assume that you have been told not to let him off lead as huskies only return when they want to and will find something to eat while away. Usually the neighbours livestock! I'm glad he has found a good home. Don't forget, if you need any help or information, get in touch.   Chris
  9. There is an ongoing programme to bring computer/internet use to rural areas. As of last month, I believe that there three or four in the Haut Vienne. They are usually sited in local Mairies or bars - any place that is accessible for the general public. There is one in my local village hotel. You have the use of a computer with internet access and an all in one printer.  As far as I am aware, this a service provided by the Department and there is no charge. The Limousin was one of the last tosign up for this service so you should be able to find a site in your area.
  10. Hope you manage to find the right person for your Sibe. I know it's not easy. I have had Sibes for thirty years and have probably had first hand knowledge of most of the problems.I find that the majority think that the reason you cannot let them run frww is that you haven't trained them properly.  They don't realise that it is impossible to be sure of a Sibe once it is off lead and that, unfortunately, they are capable of doing away with your neighbours chickes while away!  That said, I wouldn't swop them for anything else.  They are the most loving beasts and fantastic with children. I'm sorry I can't help as I have just taken in another two. If whover takes them needs some advice from an old hand, tell them to contact me.  Good luck!                             ;i;j
