  1. We have recently replaced our Kitchenaid after 20 yrs - my wife makes cakes etc 2 or 3 times a week.  Well built - we could have repaired the old one but it was 110v.  Heavy and built like an outhouse.
  2. Mr T, Thank you for your info, very helpful.  Pool will be flat bottom, with drain plus 2 skimmers. Vern
  3. In my current job, I am able to get 220v Pool Systems delivered at US mainland prices and postage.  Could somebody, I understand that this may not elicit a response from everyone, recommend a good make and model (that they have personal experience of) for the following: 1.  Salt system 2.  Direct injection system for Javel - I understand there are some models with weaknesses ref injectors. I will then be able to make a decision on cost vs ease between above systems.. 3.  Robot using 110v or 220v supply. 4.  Tester for water. We are building a 12 x 6m pool using the Bloc system from Zyke.  We will upgrade the pump etc and hopefully opt for zeolite (sp).  Somebody may mention the warranty will not be valid - I can post it back at mainland US postage prices plus spares are easy. Thank you Vern
  4. Dell as a company do this ..... are you setting up as an intermediary?  If so, that is an additional layer of costs that folk don't need.  Sorry to be negative on your first post.
  5. Bob, My BMW dealer, during the last service, insisted that it was required ..... I felt it was an excellent way for them to generate additional revenue!!
  6. I have a BMW R1200RT that is NATO registered in Italy.  Had the headlight changed plus CoC from BMW UK.  It has miles/kilometers, at night only miles are visible - not a problem for me cos BMWII  GPS is set to kilometers. Ques: Do I have to change my Speedo module?  I can see my BMW dealer in France, who commented on this, lightening my wallet!
  7. Pierre, I probably did not make myself clear - my post referes to new cars and cars less than 6 months.
  8. The latter ... but be careful with VAT and importing new cars from within the EU that are less than 6 months old.  Plenty on the site about this from us so just do a search.
  9. Switzerland .... so you will be paying import duty plus VAT?
  10. Sadly we already have 2 rescued GSDs and just recently a rottweiler cross from Naples .... all complete softies with the family but put up an impressive display when required!!
  11. They are expensive, secondhand, in the UK.  Better off buying secondhand in Germany.  Buying new then yes you do save money .... e.g.  Mini Clubman, with a tax-paid price in the UK of approx 25K sterling fully loaded, France 34K euros - go figure!!
  12. Cat urine .... didn't they used to call it Black Tower!!
  13. Get back in the Fifties ... where you are obviously comfortable.  Thankfully we do not have these bigoted views near us.  I thought Gite business' were struggling. Rant over from one half of a heterosexual couple that thinks WTF!!
  14. Hi, We are looking for recommendations for ground-works. Work includes concrete pads for above ground swimming pool, greenhouse and shed, low block walls for retaining borders (20ml) and short concrete path.  Digger (not suitable for mini-pelle) for digging and leveling land, lorry for delivering soil to cover spoil. Lay stone chipping (not calcaire) driveway post-work.  Registered only please.  We live just 8 km south of Chef-Boutonne, Dept 79.  Thank you Vernon
  15. Sadly some "roofers" appear to be the same.  In the UK we had a roofer that put no nails in the new build - after a lot of pressure, including pulling out the regs, NHBC upheld our claim. Here, I explained to a Brit "builder" that I thought it was the flashing ... Oh no, it is the membrane the wrong way so we need to lift the tiles at the Gable end - 400 euros.  Next rain, leaked in same place .... went up and sorted flashing, surprise, surprise nothing since. The only satisfaction is that his competence appears to keep him unemployed for long periods.
  16. Have a look on downloads.zdnet.com - any search engine will give you the correct link.  Then have a look at their thoughts.  Incidentally, within the last 6 months there have been 2 Mac specific virus' - all from a quick search.
  17. I currently manage a large IT department in Naples (yes ... with all the connotations ref security that suggests) - Macs are becoming more popular ... this makes it more "cost effective" to attack.  If you are happy with the "Mac's do not need anti-virus" then simple - don't install.  The question was asked.  Personally anybody that believes Macs are safe from virus' is banking on a concept that is somewhat outdated. IMHO. I use AVG on our Windows 7 workstations at home, iAntiVirus on our MacBook Pro's.  You make your own choice - but why risk it when both programs are free!!
  18. I understand that you can't shoot them until they have crossed your boundary - hunters not animals!!
  19. JR - If you read my earlier post you will find that the following Manufacturers will provide taxfree LHD cars : Citroen, BMW/Mini, VW Group, Mercedes, Fiat, Honda, Vauxhall and Renault. Of interest is that FORD will not.
  20. Pretty much what I said some time ago - better written tho!
  21. A new taxfree car bought on temperary export plates is to be exported and re-registered within 2 months. The export V5 has a tear off slip that has to be filled in and returned.
  22. Our LHD Renault Grand Scenic was bought from Renault Taxfree last year - took 6 weeks from ordering. They will do personal exports.
  23. I have just ordered 4 x 185/70R14 for 54 euros each from www.pneus-online.fr . I will get them fitted for
