1. Sorry for sounding like a numpty but I know it is a bike race however, if I went onto the street to watch it, will there be anything else to do?  Why do people make such a fuss over it?
2.
Hang on a minute.....Just because something is done one way in France and a different way in UK doesn't make either right or wrong, just different.
I agree Steve, but it is always interesting to me to discover what and how things are done differently.
3.
- and never let the waiter take his plate away after dinner -
Are you sure that is not Mr Twinkle? I always do that to him.  He gnarls up and says "Zeez blody Breeteesh!"  Then he kind of raises his palm above his head as if there is a fly bothering him and he blows a sort of raspberry the same time. He then gets some bread and mops up nothing off his clean plate.  What is this man about? [blink]
4. Sorry I meant cogniac [:)].  I did honest.[:D]  Claire, as a French person, you do not seem taken aback by the bizarre antics of Mr Twinkle.  C'est normal? God she is going to kill me when she sees this [:$]
5. Yes, I have an experience of a good old French debate about.....................................cake [8-)]. When I visit France, Twinkle insists on a nice lamb dinner with mint sauce.  On the occassion I invite all her French friends around too and, on the last occassion, Twinkle arrived with a beautiful dessert made by the local artisan. The dinner went down well but I did notice someone left their cauliflower cheese but, being very british when it comes to food, I really did not mind. Then came the dessert.  It was extremely pretty to look at but I found it a bit gloopy (like many French desserts) and not to my taste so, I had a mouthful and left it. Twinkles old man asked why and I told him then all hell broke loose.  He could not understand how british people eat shit like apple crumble and spotted dick but leave a masterpiece such as this dessert made by the most famous 'cake maker' in the whole of the Midi. He turned into a dictator over a bit of cake and I could not believe it. But by the time the cheese was out, in true French style it was all forgotten about.  (well by him anyway [6])
6. Great!!! Glad you have cleared that up then.  [8-|][B]
7. Sweltering Christine.  I don't know about you but I struggle with the heat [;-)]
8.
I have NEVER EVER suggested any thing of the kind, so no apology required I feel. I am only making the point that this forum cannot be used to ask info or advice about extremely controversial subjects and not expect people to react by expressing their opposition or opinion. People expressing a critical opinion of the Pamplonna bull run have been insulted and derided by the author. I was illustrating extreme cases in order to make the point... at what stage does one make the cut off point between what is acceptable or not on a forum as this. And as far as I am concerned cruelty to animals is too far already... but what if? If you wish to ban me, please do so.
Oh, just thought it best I put this in just in case you go denying your own words again
9. Firstly Odile, I do not have the authority to ban you although I do have the option of reporting you.  However, I have chosen not to because it always seems a bit sneaky to do that and is against the grain of the person that I am. Saying you have NEVER EVER suggested anything of the kind is a load of rubbish and I suggest you look over your post. You say the original poster has upset other writers on the forum.  Howerver, looking over this thread, you seem to have cast the first stone here Odile.  So, do you think there is a rule for you where you can give your tuppence worth but everyone else must keep schtum? Finally, you query the cut of point of what is and what is not acceptable on the forum.  I think you have already overstepped that mark luvvie dont you?
10. Polremy, you pm'd me the other day but I could not make head nor tail of it [blink].  I wonder if it was a similar scenario
11. Ooooh Val, that is awful.  Have you managed to scrape out of it yet? A friend sent me a photo of a guy she was seeing.  I made a bit of a rude comment and sent it back to him.  I dont think she hears from him much anymore[:(]  Come to think of it I dont hear much from her either.
12.
if we follow your logic, it would be perfectly OK to ask for advice about getting involved in dog fighting, badger baiting or other kind of animal/human/child molestation. A forum is by definition an exchange of ideas and opinions.
Hang on a minute Odile! A person asks a question about running with bulls (and, after all lets face it, they are herding creatures anyway), and he gets a response like this.  Do you realise you have said he has the logic to ask for advice or get involved in child molestation? I really think you owe the OP an apology.  Another member got banned some time ago for a similar and equally vile comment.  Others have been banned for less! I am disgusted [:@]
13.
Hope you are reading all this JK! [:)]
Dont worry about me,  I have been letting property for 18 years.  I just havnt fully familiarised myself with the new deposit rules because I cant be bothered.   I really hate that about myself [:@]
14. Thanks for the link Gluey, I am in the process of renting my 'old home' now that I am in France and, typical of me have not updated myself with this law. To be honest, and I have had many tenants over many years, if the only damage done was that in the photos, I think you have come out trumps and should be thankful.  One tenant even attempted a demolition job on one of my properties, then did a midnight bunk [:@] Just out of curiosity, what period is your bathroom suite sympathetic to? [blink]
15.
I just cannot see the point in getting into an argument about such different points of view. Clair, you obviously miss the point here, it has nothing what so ever to do with the content of the post, but everything to do with having the right to ask for HELPFUL  info and not getting people replying with their viewpoints on the rights and wrongs of the content. Why can't someone just post, just get an answer, and be left alone to get on with things.
I must agree with this point,  There are days when I am afraid to post anything due to the backlash.  I fully understand that it is an open forum and everyone has a right to an opinion but in this case, the OP asked for information on the event and not peoples opinions.
16. Yes that is the one,  apparently it really hurts when you get pelted.  I wouldnt wear a bikinin though.
17. I thought this was all about tomatoes!!!!  [blink] If I may make a comment about this run though,  I would rather be one of these bulls taking my revenge on man than Paris Hiltons Chowawa!!
18.
hope Katie will find the picture sooooooooooooo giggly funny ahah-
I think you forgot to post it or, if you need instructions let me know.
19. That's right, it is coming back to me [:)].  We stayed in Nexon, a real lovely small town.  If you have kids in tow, you can take them to futuroscope and make sure you stay until the end to watch the lazer show.  It starts with the Titanic emerging from below the lake and ends with Fred and Ginger tap dancing and kicking water about. I think we stayed in this area when we took an easy day trip to Oradour sur Glane a village left standing in the same state since the end of the War.  There is a thread running on it at the moment. Best advice I can give you is to stay away from Limoges.
20. Hello Davey and welcome to the forum.  It is very strange that you have not had a response.  Is Correze in Limousin?  I think I have stayed there on one occasion.  It was very peaceful, very green and quite rainy.  There was also lots of cows and fishing lakes and many pretty little stone villages dotted about.  Have you carried out much research on the area.
21. That looks just like the one that Tres first suggested. mine is nothing like that.
22.

Not phlomis for me either.
Katie, you can add your location to your profile, too.
Top of a hill in South Wales Lavie, does it sound to you that we have the same plant?  I have never seen one before either.  Maybe we could start breeding them [geek]
23. You are Chinese Sweet??  How do you remember all those rules with your chopsticks??
