  1. Yippee - this is my 100th posting.  How shall I celebrate?  Ideas please ...
  2. You're making me into a nervous traveller...[+o(]
  3. My husband is 6 ft 5 ins and has a dicky back, shoulder, legs etc (too much cricket when he was a useful fast bowler).  He can only drive certain cars, such as large estates.  However, out of the small cars, my VW Golf suited him very well indeed.  VW used to sell them on the basis that they can be driven by "titchies" and "lankies".
  4. Do legs have to be shaved as well?...[Www]
  5. Nick - you are the voice of reason here.  Thank you for telling me.
  6. And with Annie, Betty, Mike and Eddie coming, we won't talk French (I presume as I have never heard them say anything "francais" in the Rovers?)
  7. I take it that, as you have to shave your armpits, no French girls are invited...
  8. Yes that is what it is.  I saw one in the Medoc last month.  Bizarre looking bird.  I called out all the children from bed just to see it.  A great sight.
  9. Do they exist?  Clearly not!  Two hours and no one yet...  How much time do I have to give it before I find out?

    Taxes

Natalie - if you headed your query 'Running costs of a gite', you may get more replies? I don't have a gite to rent but have lots of friends who do.  I understand that it is a saturated market (depending on the location of the gite) and that bookings outside of peak season are difficult.  It helps to have a swimming pool.  Others may enlighten you further?
  11. I live in the Medoc (33) - not all of the time but a lot of the time.  In September, I'll be there for 2 years as my children will be at school.  There seem to be no Brits in the area.  Mind you, the French neighbours will say (in French): "Do you know the Williams who live 20 kilometres away?" as if I am expected to know them.  Are you a Brit in the Medoc?  Are you Mr and Mrs Williams?
  12. My husband is not happy about the Leeds-Watford game.  He tried to get from Bristol to Cardiff today (NOT to watch the football - he is a rugby fan) and was stuck in the football traffic both there and then back.  I told him that it was his fault that he lives in the UK and that he should spend more time in France.

    WORK

I shout when I try to get my husband to work...
  14. Russethouse - I see that someone in the quiz room called Russethouse got 8 points.  Surely that cannot be you!!  You would have got 10 in 10 seconds.  Is someone masquerading as you?
  15. Patf - the questions weren't easy - it's just we are clever!! [:D] Actually, it is always said that quizzes are easy when you know the answers...
  16. Can someone enlighten me with the name of the forum?  IM me if you're not allowed to say the name in public.  The suspense if getting to me!
  17. I'M STUNNED!  I did the Trivia Quiz just now and got 10 out of 10 in 66 secs - I top the board!!  Can't believe it.  I just have to boast about it.  Modest, moi? [;-)]
  18. What's the name of this other forum?
  19. Cassis - I see that you joined the Forum on Christmas Day?  Why weren't you under the table that day with your 'voisins' drinking cassis?! [:D]
  20. Am I right in saying that the fees at sous-contrat priavte schools are low because the French government pays the staff salaries?  Can someone correct me on this?
  21. French private schools (sous contrat) are amazingly cheap.  We are educating three of our four children in this way and the annual fees total less than £5000.
  22. My neighbour is desperately trying to grow bamboo as a screen from the road but it keeps getting eaten by deer. [:(]
  23. How long was it?  I can't tell from the photograph?
