  1. OPur nearest branch of Briconauts in Aubusson has a wide range of furnishing materials and accessories including various Velcors and Rufflette tapes. Don't know if there's one near you.
  2. Just finished oiur garden fish pond and need significant numbers of pond plants, oxygenators, water hawthorn etc. Any know of either suppliers in the Limousin or someone who can supply by mail?
  3. We have a campsite B&B and two dogs of our pwn and we welcome other (well behaved) pets, we are, however a bit West of the Auvergne being in the Creuse if that's any help. Drop a message in my inbox www.leschenauds.com.
  4. We always suggest to our guests to look at the local Notaires first www.notaires.fr and look at their immobilier section. You can select the area you want and look in a number of price brackets. Among the better agencies are vert et Bleu ( you can find these on a search engine) , Central France Properties and www.fralimo.com. If you need to know any more let me know. www.leschenauds.com
  5. You can get some good bargains at Emmaus, St Priest Taurion, the choice is vast and changes every week otherwise, there are Brocantes all over the place some cheap and cheerful and other have pretensions and sell at Knightsbridge prices. Your local 'annuaire' (phone directory) will list them as will www. pages-jaunes.fr
  6. Last time we were in our local 'Emmaus" there were loads of filing cabinets, both wood and metal from 2 to 4 drawer at about 40Euros each (or near offer)
  7. Forgot to mention, if your local market is near Bourganeuf, I could ask for you next market day, leave a message in my inbox if you wish.
  8. In the local market in Bourganeuf, there are 2 or 3 British selling things from stalls, pottery, paintings, eggs etc. They tell me that they just asked at the Mairie then see the market manager on market day morning. I haven't asked but don't think it can be too expensive.
  9. Hi, We have a campsite/B&B just south of Boureganeuf and we know quite a few British who stayed with us and now live in the area. Contact me via my mailbox (Can't advertise)and drop in for a cup of tea (or something stronger) when you are over here. We have been here 4 years now and still love it.
  10. Anyone out there know what the basic french tax allowances are, i.e. the amount an individual can earn before tax both pre and post retirement?
  11. We have been here for three years now and still love it! We have a campsite B&B just 1KM within the Creuse and over 60% of our visitors last year were looking to buy. happy to say that we now have 3 new lots of permanent neighbours (1.e. within 10 KM) and 4 new holiday home owners. Our website gives a brief overview of the area www.leschenauds.com. even though the email link seems to have stopped working. Always happy to advise. Our only regret - we didn't move here years ago.
  12. Step one is to have a word with your local Maire. There is usually a small number of emplacements which is accaptable without too much red tape (6 in our area). We found the Mairie very helpful and they went out of their way to make our set up seamless however, a small campsite/B&B is not the sort of business to rely on as a sole source of income. After three years, year one was not too bad, year two was a disaster (possibly BSE) but year three exceeded all expectations, having our own website has been a major contributor. Year four has already started with visitors this week and many forward bookings from as as far afield as Japan, quite a few being repeats from last year so we must be doing something right. Through all this, the Maire always asks how business is and the Mairie helps with photocopying of docs, advice etc free of charge. They are delighted that our small commune campsite is always busier than the local towns bigger municipal sites.
  13. We are registered at a UK address for the purposes of receiving SKY programmes. As we are now resident in France, do we still need to keep paying the UK TV licence or will stopping payment trigger SKY to become suspicious?
  14. Does anyone have the French words to the Silent Night Xmas carol?
