  1. Hello, To sell produce from your home, ie. veg, eggs etc. what do you need to legally do? Do you need a certificate d'exploitation? I guess I am talking about the equivalent of a little farm shop. Would you be limited to what you sell, ie. only your produce, or could you sell things you have bought and are reselling? Any comments. Mand
  2. Hi, can anyone recommend a carpenter/joiner to make some doors and windows for us and fit them. We want someone "au fait" with traditional joinery (farm style). Thanks Mand
  3. I have decided to have my first baby in France, due December. We have a second home here which is hopefully going to become our main home before too long. I have visited St. Malo hospital as recommended by my French GP (he has a friend there who is one of the Gyno/Obstetric docs). Very nice chap, but informed me that pain relief options were either a full epidural (ie. not a new "mobile" one) or nothing! No gas and air even. Does anyone know if this is common practice throughout France or should I shop around and visit other hospitals in my area to see their facilities? Dont get me wrong, Im not planning my pain relief in advance, hopefully I wont need any (!!) but it doesnt instill a huge amount of confidence in me, especially as I will be worried enough about communication problems etc etc. Thanks. Mand

  5. Does anyone else think this is a good idea? Lately I seem to be posting for a lot of things I need as we have settled in a bit and are starting to get cracking with renovations etc, so thought it would be easier to have a dedicated forum for this? Mand
  6. We are due to complete the purchase of a property near Dol-de-Bretagne/Pleine Fougeres in January 2002 - can anyone recommend a competent and reliable builder in this area to help us with renovations? Thanks. Mand.
  7. Do UK household appliances work in France? TV's, stereos, videos, kitchen appliances?? Is it just a case of changing the plug and away you go? Any comments please. Thanks.
