1. "It's very short sighted to educate them here then hope they will get employed in the UK. There are a few problems with that, sufficient help in the UK, sufficient funds to go back and still you have to find work in the area you can find housing which everyone says is dire, so...." Also, Miki, when you are going to "reply"to someones posting, could you please read it correctly before the attack! I NEVER said that I wanted them to go back to England for employment!
 2. What is it with this forum!! Their are a couple of you oldies out there who just will not let people have their say! Why do you ALWAYS have to be so derogatory about peoples replies! Miki, especially, you are so opinionated about what YOU think is a good or bad posting, that I'm starting to think you have nothing better to do than upset people! Please let new people make their comments without you tearing them to pieces. My understanding is, this is a forum where we are all entitled to our say, you included, but over the last few months, you have attacked so many postings, that it is becoming quite ridiculous, and not nice! Can't wait for your reply!
 3. Well, cannot really agree with the last posting as I think "what is deadly serious, and not a joke "was our  childrens "future " in England! I do not "expect" anything from my kids, except to become kind, happy, respectful  individuals. If they were educated in England, they were hoping to travel extensively anyway, so why do they have to be employed here in France? Still think that by being educated here, learning a new culture, etc, their lives have become more fulfilled.
 4. Well, I have got to send some good news to those of you in England who are thinking of moving here! We have been here 18 months now and our children were 11 and 14 at the time! We were very concerned for our 14 year old as we thought we had left it too late to uproot her, but it was a case of move then, or not at all! The idea was that if she really struggled at school, we would move back to England after 12 months. They said that they understood nothing at all, in the classroom for 3 months, but after this, they started to understand their school work and by the end of the school year were average with their french peers! Now, 18 months later, they are fluent in French, doing extremely well at school, and we have no regrets at all! We feel that our children have gained a lot more from their new lives here than they would have done by staying in England. Regarding an earlier post about the perfect age to bring a child here, I was going to say probably maximum 10. But, my children have proved this incorrect. They are by no means hyper intelligent. I would say they were bright, average kids in England and if you feel that your children can also cope with change and want to learn, they will! In either country it depends on the individual school and teachers, ours are marvellous, extra French lessons and lots of help when needed! They also had a marvellous school in England, so maybe we have been very lucky! Bonne Chance
 5. Sorry, we have lived and worked here 18 months. The house in england has been let for 15months. Hope this helps
 6. I wonder if anyone could answer this question for us.We have property here in France and have completed 2 declarations of Tax in France also. My husband works here as an artisan. If we sell our property in England and buy a property with any profit in France, what Tax would we have to pay?
 7.
Ryanair fly to Montpellier and Rodez also, both accessible to Toulouse and probably easier than Carcosonne, but the problem is that Ryanair haven't published their summer imetable yet either
Don't know if I'm wrong as maps are in car, but I really thought Carcassone was nearer Toulouse than Montpellier! Also you can book for next May "maintenant"!!! Does anybody "out there" beg to differ?
 8.
Just phoned BMI who confirm the only flights Nottm - France next summer are to Charles de Gaulle. Checked Flybe from Brum to Toulouse and its over £200 each for Spring Bank Holiday week. Add cost o...
Have you thought about www.ryannair.com Not sure which weekend is spring bank holiday, but most weekends in May, Stanstead - Carcassone, seem about 50 pound each. Accept you'd have to drive down to Stsd, but maybe this is an option. Would think it's simple to get a bus, train to Toulouse from Carcassone. Also, they do East Midlands - Girona. This must be approx Hour and a half from Toulouse. Then I suppose it's hire a car, or train to Perpignan and then change. Really don't know whether you can get to Toulouse direct from Girona, but maybe someone else knows!.
 9.
SORRY if i'm repeating a earlier post, but we were wandering what you have too take with you to open a account? I will be opening a business account and my mum a personal account. Its just that we hav...
JUst thought i'd post a couple of nightmares, we had with our bank in the past- due to OUR lack of spoken french and understanding, I must add!! 1. Paid a cheque into our account, and I forgot to cross my "7"s, So large sum of money went missing for 14days!!! You'd think it went into an account with a "1" instead, but nope!! 2.Another cheque we paid in recently, bounced, we were writing cheques against it as we did'nt know, and ended up paying a first charge of 80 euros, and then for every cheque written after more money! Ended up paying 270euros!!!!!!!!! Aaah!! Got half of it back though! Also, the bank did'nt inform us we had to buy a 5 euro stamp from the local Tabac, which you then take back to your bank, and the Bank of France then lift the "stop" off your account!!! 3.IF you want to close you bank account, it's not that easy!! You have to make an appointment to see a manager, and then they charge you 50euros to close it! Needless to say we are staying with the devil we know, as we do realise lack of communication is the REAL problem! Oh Joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 10.
As Will says, it depends. We have bought a house, a car, created an enterprise (SARL) registered with the chambre de commerce, USSAF, Organics, Green health card, TVA registered (company and personall...
Well, obviously, Dept 34, is one of the more difficult dept to live in then! Our Chamber de Metier wanted a CDS, and, our Full birth certs, TRANSLATED by a recognised body.

Its just that we hav...
I suppose they are all different, depending on whom you actually see and in what dept, but this is our experience. 1.Make an appointment first. 2.Take with you Passport, Birth and Marriage certificates, and a recent bill with your address on. For a Business account, the above plus, 3. Copy of degree, Qualification Certificate.4. SIRET no: from Chamber de Metiers, or Commerce, confirming you are a qualified Artisan in France. (Thus, legally able to work in France) 5. Avis D'emposition 2003 (revenue). 6. Attestation of any property you may own here, or a copy of contract you will have signed to rent property.
 12.
Unless you are absolutely certain that you need this I would wait. We have been in France for over 2 years and have done most of the paperwork things - bought house, registered car, got carte de sejo...
If you are going to register with the Chamber de Metiers, or Chamber de Commerce, you, will, need the full version translated by a recognised body! As posted earlier, you can get a list of your nearest from the Prefecture, or the above.

I sent off for my cert of conformity, also with Ford, (in France) 5 weeks ago, and still have'nt got it back! Also, had to get new headlights, amazes me that some people pass with stickers, or just get passed!!! Must be the garage I suppose! Well done, to you , anyway! P.S Following other peoples advice, I got back to Dvla, after they originally told me I had to deal with the court, as there had already been a hearing, and SORN admit they do have details of my taking the vehicle to France, and did,nt reply! They have asked me to fax over all the details! fingers and everything CROSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks everyone for all the info, great Forum

 20.
We don't have to have a titre de sejour anymore. However, if you are going to be working here, then I would suggest that you apply for one anyway. Certain organisms may well ask for one, depending on ...
What is a "titre sejour"? I know they will not  issue carte sejours in this area, no way, as from  September! A friend of ours has to take a letter to organisations that ask for one, stating the rules have now changed! He got the letter from his accountant!
 21.
Didn't Pucette mean 'there is no confusion' from the french side, rather than the DVLA, after all there are laws and regs in France.
I'm CONFUSED!!! Not sure now what Pucette meant. But when I said there was a lot of confusion, I meant with other people on the forums understanding of what you do actually need, and in which country! I THINK? now I know, the hard way, obviously!
 22.
After recent car problems I am now questioning all information received!! Our maire told us we no longer need a carte de sejour, he was going to check with the prefecture and we have heard no more!! ...
From September 2004!! Thanks for that, and I did write to the authorities last year to notify them of our situation.
 24.
The only advice I can give you is the following which does make some assumptions. Firstly, I don't think technically you have a leg to stand on as the law is the law. If it is possible to not attend...
Have taken your advice and am now adding more to my letter! Hoping I'll only have to pay the 245 pound, and not the extra 1000 !! Fingers, and everything else, CROSSED!!! Thanks very much.
 25.
Oh dear, we have been all through this before in this forum. Even I got confused and phoned the DVLC in the end. The rules are quite simple really. Does the car have a UK registration number. If t...
Thanks for the reply, Quillan. After posting my topic regarding the court, I read lots of other peoples comments in the vehicle section, and there really is alot of confusion  over this subject. I think to bring this up again is helpful to those of us who are misinformed! Still think that by writing to the DVLA last year,  and actually, nearly re-registered in France I have been treated unfairly! But that's life I suppose!
