1. We have an enclosure for our 2 goats & 6 chickens with 2 sheds one for the chickens & 1 for the goats... Trouble is the chickens love the goats so much they have all decided to live together in one.... Hey ho!
2. I can highly recommend an english removal man ( he resides in France) and he also does part removals (the odd boxes) Brilliant bloke & excellent service.
3.

If I recall correctly from another forum where the owner of the 'no going back' fishing lake business is a member, the house, lake and business was put up for sale last year and the family are returning to the UK.
That's a shame - it seemed to be working out OK.
I know why but cant go into details.. but all I can say is GET A GOOD ACCOUNTANT!!
4. Hi there riff & raff from someone who made the move nearly 4 years ago. With more and more lakes opening each year, there are lots of hurdles for you to overcome but if you want to pm me I will be more than happy to help. We have excellent accountants and now our French SARL (whose assets are our house, lake, lake & business is owned by our UK company... thus getting over the problems with inheritance laws. Be lucky... and buy lakes big enough to earn 2 families a living... (given that 26 weeks income will have to last a year!) I reckon you need at least 14 acres of water... and a regular 10 anglers per week
5. I have one ( a gift from my student son 2nd hand...) never used it.... no instructions... cant imagine what a bunch of students wanted it for...hmmm
6. We bought a .22 rifle a couple of years ago, but before the purchase went to the Gendarmerie to check about a license. We were told as long as it wasnt being used for hunting, and just being used within the confines of our land for vermin control one wasnt necessary. On purchasing it the retailer filled in our details in a registration book. It was as simple as that! ps Shoot as many coypus as poss!!!!!!!!
7. Ive seen the result of an unprovoked attack on a Alsation/Labrador cross, a huge gash in his chest, have you actually seen the size of the teeth on them???????? Your lake water will almost certainly be infected by Weils Disease which these creatures spread. Control is necessary!
8. I was there on that fateful day....... Crystal Palace through and through. Born and bred 1 mile from Selhurst Park Eaglessssssssssssssssss
9. Croydon then Kent border.. funny that we are another 72 er coming from Kent? (Cassis & cooperlola)
10. Im exhausted enough just reading the word 'Badminton'....
11. Personally I think the letter is too long & detailed considering it is to be sent with a CV. The letter should be concise, and rather like a new bar of chocolate want you to tear off the wrapper and sink your teeth into the inside (CV!) Concise professional & tantalising There are professional sites on the Internet that will help you to construct a good letter.
12. Good excuse to meet the local farmer. They always have 'spare' bales and keenly priced. Best of all you make a friend!
13. Why not give my good friend Dave a call on 0033 0243 698332 We have moved a lot of people from uk to france and vice versa Im sure he will give you a very competitive price...Ian
14. We send Christmas cards to our closest French friends children who really appreciate them! They all think we are pretty eccentric anyway! I always keep a few goodies put by in case over the Christmas period we have visitors bearing gifts (not much different to the UK I suppose!) If you get invited to any French homes for meals over Christmas you wont be expected to take Christmas gifts just the usual gifts of chocolates and a nice bottle of bubbly.
15. Keep an eye on French ebay... Always good for a bargain or 2
16. Just wondered if anyone knew that there is a law in France (albeit a very old one) that forbids picking mushrooms on a Thursday? and also not before 9am on the other days?
17. There are lots of regulations. You will need a licence for starters if you intend to use the lake commercially this will be dependent on how your lake is fed... ie stream/spring etx, also how old your lake is. If it is stream fed you will need to know the stream classification as this will govern whether you can actually use the lake commercially, You will obviously also need to start up your French company. Dont think for one moment the Mairie will have the answer,,, better, in the first insyance contacting the Garde du peche.
