1. Hello, I guess you are talking about a Shimano baitrunner reel rather than a baitmaster? If so then there are a number of Shimano carp reels that use '1000' in the model description so i am afraid you need to be a bit more specific and give the exact model required for carp fishing. For carp fishing purposes any Shimano baitrunner with a line capacity of at least 250 yards of 12lb line should be a good bet...for example an Aero Gte B-8000 which should cost about 150-200 euros in France and would certainly cover most carp fishing needs.Next you just need to find a good local tackle shop that sells Shimano reels. kind regards, Bob

5.
Just wondering if it's worth the 400km drive (each way) and 25euros motorway tolls (each way) for a weekend?
Well it's 'interesting'.First impressions were lots of gift shops...very good for dashboard Jesuses that glow in the dark etc. Then we walked down the hill past the hospital, basilica etc and saw the river...some very large trout by the bridge incidentally...and then the amazing sight of hundreds of pilgrims walking, hobbling and being pushed or carried along to the source where you can go inside a cave-like affair and immerse yourself or just drink some water on site if you wish.Original cynical thought that it was like a gigantic mobile Monty Python sketch(some truth in this) gradually turned to guilt when i saw so many people who were really desperate, many very sick and obviously believed or wanted to in the possibility of a miracle cure.It was very, very crowded when we were there and i had a bad eye infection which wasn't helping my humour. We only made the visit because we were in the area and one of our group was a faithful Catholic and wanted to see it.We took a nice cable car ride up into the hills above the town and enjoyed the scenery. On the way out of town i filled a small plastic bottle with the brew and rather sneeringly bathed my eye in it as we drove on to Andorra.Next day my eye was totally normal and unswollen once more.Joe Henry, our fervent Catholic, may just have smirked a little in my direction. Is it worth the trip?As someone wrote 'oh do not ask what is it,let us go and make our visit'.For me anyway it was a bit of an eye-opener. 9. http://www.pechelot.com/parcour.htm Hello Boatyard. The above link is in French but shows a couple of category 1(trout fishing) rivers such as the Vers(about 15km upriver of Cahors) and Le Vert and a little further afield the Céou.There are of course some trout in the Lot itself and plenty in the Célé.You can get your licence from some Bar Tabacs and post offices.A full year's trout fishing will cost around 50 euros. all the best, Rollo
10. Hello, Being a fisherman, and preferring loooking at lakes to working,i decided to take a look but my searches through Google produced nothing.Have you spelt the name correctly and,if so,whereabouts in Brittany is this lake? kind regards, Bob Spinks
11. Hi Did you see on the Middi-Pyrenees bit that a julieandadam put a note in for friend for our daughter on the 6th Feb.They are just starting house hunting so it might be nice for your daughter to talk to their 13 year old,I sent my girls e-mail address to them but we only have a holiday home.goodluck.PS I DID NOT THINK YOU WERE SHOUTING.
12. Bob Spinks Hi could you please tell me if the new regs tell you what size your pool has to be or how deep it should be to be liable for the new rules,as we only have a splash pool,5x3meters and 1 meter deep?

14. Bob Spinks Hello again, Here is a lake i found on the net that may be worth a look come springtime.Good luck. Bob http://www.pechetruite.com/Lacs_reservoirs/correze.htm
15. Bob Spinks Hello, You don't say which river you are on...is it the Correze or the Vezere?I have crossed over both of them but not fished them yet.Whichever river...at this time of year(if the river is not in flood) try and find a deeper slower area close to your near bank and make sure you have a decent rodrest or two.I would suggest you leger with enough weight to just hold bottom in the current and try maggots, worms or sweetcorn on a size 8 or 10 hook which should give you a chance of finding out what kind of fish the river holds in your area.Cast out not too far, allow leger to settle, close bail arm of reel(having adjusted slipping clutch on reel properly)and place rod on rests.Tighten up line to leger so that you can see any bites on the rod tip and keep your hand close to the rod butt at all times.Feed some bait in a little way upstream if there is appreciable current(you want to make sure the free offerings end up close to your hookbait). Now settle down and wait.Finally...make sure you can land a fish without falling in and that you have a decent landing net,an unhooking mat and damp cloth for unhooking fish(ditto disgorger or long nose pliers). Please forgive me if this is all second nature but you didn't give many clues in your letter.I would expect you may find roach, perch, grayling, chub, bream and possibly carp in some areas.I am not sure about barbel in your river/s.By all means use a float if you prefer but i think legering may offer the best chances at this time of year. I would suggest a line of about 6lbs breaking strain to begin with...you can always scale up or down as required.
16. Hello, Hope you have found fellow anglers by now.We have bought a house in Lot valley near Cajarc and both my son and myself are keen anglers....carp,barbel,trout....anything that pulls back.We have a bit of river bank and are hoping to get a few decent fish this year during our holiday trips to the house at Easter and in July.It is a pity you are so far from us but we can keep in touch and compare notes on the fishing.I would be interested to hear how you get on.The Charente is a good river with a lot of carp, pike, chub etc so you should have some good days at the waterside in lovely surroundings. kind regards, Bob
