1. Nell. I have to agree that the Lakeland Spider catchers are excellent and makes it so easy to dispose of the spiders humanely. Even a large spider when it is in the tube doesn't appears to be so  threatening. It is well worth buying a couple of the Lakeland catchers and if you do not like the results you can return at anytime and get a full refund. Is it lovely to do business with a company who operate a not time return policy for any legitimate reason, perhaps it is about time the French retailers to leaf out of their books. This is a reminder of the link Hoddy gave previously and they do deliver to France:  http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!20455 Baz
2. 2-3p per minute is expensive to France. I always use Discountdial  who have excellent line connections at .05p per minute to call  landline phones and 7p per minute to call a mobile. I suggest you check this site http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/france  for the cheapest calls. Do remember that there is also a charge to call  0844 of about 4pence then .05pence a minute thereafter. Baz
3. Let's stop this nonsense, it is not true, although the report in The Sun has resulted in 165,000 signing a petition. If you Google you will find this is confirmed on many sites but in the meantime here is just one report: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/10/15/red_arrows_rumpus/ Baz
4.
" knowing how car speedometers generally overestimate speed, I feel 140 kph is probably nearer 130 kph anyway " Not sure they do anymore I thought the reason Autocar and Motor gave up including spedometer accuracy in their roadtests was that they became accurate.
I have a Sat Nav device that displays my speed and I can confirm that my car speedometer over estimates my speed by about 8% and it is a new car. Baz
5. To find the cheapest flights available over any selected period try this part of the Ryanair site: http://www.bookryanair.com/skylights/cgi-bin/skylights.cgi?language=EN&culture=GB&mode=FARE Baz

From their website send them an email. They are very good at replying quickly, unlike most other French Companies, I have often used this method. Baz
7.
Sorchajames - could you tell us on this forum please, what the detail of the health service was for those Brits who settled in Spain and were not registering for work but living off savings/pensions.  The info on the web is very confusing and the British Embassy Madrid site does not seem to work at the moment when I click onto 'healthcare info' (not that that would necessarily be reliable considering the Britsh Embassy paris site recently!).  I remember a big fuss in the press several years ago about changes to the Spanish health service for retired Brits, but were those already registered with the health service actually thrown out, as the French are proposing to do or was there some compromise/backing down for those already in??
It may be helpful, BBC News will be reporting today on the situation of the Spanish healthcare for Brits settled in the country. I would anticipate the report will be shown on BBC 1 News at 1.00pm, 6.00pm and 10.00pm providing time permits. Also probably through out the day on BBC News 24. Baz
8. There is a special filmed report on the changes in France being shown on the BBC news today and Spain tomorrow. I expect it may be shown again on News 24 and possibly the BBC 1 Ten o'clock news tonight. It did occur to me that if France was imposing the new rules on UK(EU) subjects to save costs, what should be the NHS response to the 200,000 plus French Nationals living in the UK. Baz
9.
As regards HD, well from what I've seen, the picture quality is not that different from what you currently receive on most of the new brands of LCD and Plasma screens.
Having seen a reasonable amount of HD and also watched it on my son's brand new plasma set, the picture difference is amazing. Many professionals have describe the HD picture as the same as changing from black & white to colour and I have to agree. Baz
10.
But is it really HD? If it is on an HD channel it can still be watched through an old SKY box, but its not HD of course, so how do you know that you are getting real  HD without the phone connection?.
Unless, you subscribe to Sky HD, HD channels cannot be viewed on any box. Baz
11. As Eurostar are taking bookings for the 26th December, I think it reasonable to expect the service will be operating normally. Anyway the 26th December is only a Bank Holiday in England and not France or Belgium. Baz
12. Thanks for everyones help. This is not a life or death matter and I am going to leave well alone. Baz
13. This weekend Sky's offering all subscribers access to it's Sky Sports channels for free. The channels will  only be available to Sky customers who have some sort of subscription already. Unfortunately, if you only use a Sky box to get free channels, you won't be able to get the sports channels. These are some of the events being televised this weekend. Portsmouth vs. Liverpool Manchester City vs. Aston Villa Plymouth Argyle vs. Cardiff City Watford vs. Southampton ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007 Cricket England vs. West Indies Guiness Premiership Rugby Gloucester vs. Leicester Baz
14. Gary, thanks again for your help. After, only finding the ones that come with windows and getting a warning message about removing any files, I decided to live with the problem. Baz
15. Gary, many thanks for your speedy response. I am always learning but how do I find the "C" folder, the IE help pages do not give me the answers. Baz
16. I hope someone might know how to remove previously used listed background pictures found in Display Properties under Desktop. My list has got so long that I wish to delete some, but cannot find how to do it. I assume it must be easy but even my computer people could not give me the answer that worked. Baz
17. Ernie, yes your site did work after I followed your very good instructions. Baz
18.
After reading a couple of threads about accidents I though it might be an idea to upload both the French and English versions in case anybody ever needs them in a hurry, lets hope not...! http://rapidshare.com/files/54541860/Accident_Forms.zip.html
Ernie, I cannot find the Accident Forms on the above site. If anyone else is having the same problem, then try this PDF which has both French and English forms and instructions of what must be completed. Let's hope nobody needs the forms but as Ernie suggests keep a copy in your glove box. http://www.insurance.fr/files/Accident_Form.pdf Baz
19.

I've been having problems for a couple of weeks.  The forum is very slow to load and when I choose a topic to read, the XP phishing filter thingy takes ages, then I get the "Explorer cannot get page".  I find that if I then click the back arrow, sometimes I am lucky enough to get the page I want [8-)]  Often, nothing changes and I give up [:@] I belong to many other forum sites and this is the only one where I have difficulties.
That is my problem too.   Evan posting a message on the forum is hit and miss.  I do not have a problem on any other web site.  It puts me off looking at the Forum!......
Sunshine, I had a similar problem a couple of months ago. If you are enter this site using "Favourites" try deleting it and entering the site manually and then adding it back to your "favourites" This cured my problem. Baz
20. I hope somebody answers Polremy's question, I would like to add that this site seems to redirect one to BWIN a bookmakers site based in Gibraltar. Could it be confirmed that registering with this company is safe as they require a lot of personal information and am I right in assuming that once registered then football can be watched. LyndandRichard is would appear that our posting crossed, however you state to use the sites you posted. This even more confusing as http://www.livefooty.doctor-serv.com/ and www.live-footy.org  appear to lead you back BWIN!!!   Baz
21.
Personally the changes will suit me as I usually try to get by with just hand luggage anyway plus under the new regime I will get priority boarding at no extra charge apparently.
As they want as many people as possible  to use just hand luggage, I suspect priority boarding to be of little advantage. Baz
22. Clair and John you both have hit the point on the head. With Identity theft and other crimes seeming to becoming more prevalent  at the current time, it occurred to me that by posting information about oneself on an open forum may be unwise. For example people mention that they are leaving their properties as a side issue to their postings and then leave their web information giving all their details. There are also more implications which would not be appropriate to discuss here and I was just interested in posters opinions for the security of everyone. Baz
23. Whilst I am not paranoid about withholding information about myself, I always make sure that I decide who gleans details about myself. It is amazing how much possible unintentional information about individual posters is innocently divulge in posts on a forum. I have noticed that more and more people are posting their own websites with personal information, addresses and phone numbers and just wondered if this produces either desirable enquiries or any unpleasant communications.
24. An interesting topic and questions. I do not know the answer, except it did occur to me how "Internet Cafés" deal with these problems. I suspect there must be an answer. I hope someone will solve your concerns. Baz
25. 192.com is the most up to date site for me in the UK. It shows my car which is about two years old. Baz
