  1. Thanks Will, I did check and you are correct 31st of March returning 1 April is £100 return for two! Website is not clear...anyway after a very looooooonnnnnnnnngggggggg process this morning having repeated all requests numerous times, you than have to choose a vendor? Only remembered British Rail and they were not there...chose oneline...problems with postcode....chose virgin...same problem...after one hour....found out they do not send tickets abroad?? Going to email friend in Dorchester and ask her to book tickets!  Thank you for making me check again!
  2. Thanks for all the info...wish I had checked the train ticket prices first? Over £100 return from Dorchester to Waterloo!!! and that is supposed to be a cheap ticket?[:(] me thinks I have been away too long!
  3. Have sent you email. We may be interested as we have two gites that we normally rent out. September/October is the time we often take a short holiday. Did visit the Correze once and found it beautiful. We were near a town famous for its horse racing? Must get the map out tonight! www.le-tilleul.com
  4. We hope to get something reasonable for £100 per night, we are staying with friends in Dorchester than taking the train to Waterloo. As suggested, better to cross the river for a hotel. I am going to feel like a tourist even though I worked as graphic artist in London 30 years ago! But what I liked then Camden Market, Oxford Street, is not what I want to see now..except perhaps a good rock band at either Hammersmith Odeon or Roundhouse....are they still there?
  5. Not really sure where to post this as it is about England? Our first trip back to Blighty together in 6 years and we want to stay in London for two nights. Somewhere near theatres, sights ect. Any recommendations. People think we are mad, are they? Having lived on the Isle of Wight for 6 years after leaving rural Essex and now living in Deux Sevres is it going to be a shock to the system going to the city after 13 years? maria www.le-tilleul.com
  6. Many thanks for the replies. We are less than one hour away. Never been before but as an ex graphic artist I am sure I will enjoy the event. Another suggestion for our gite guests to visit.
  7. Does anyone have the dates for January and if possible a website link?
  8. [:(]I have lost count of the times that the Mondeo as been knocked...mostly parked in supermarket car parks....perhaps it's because it is right hand drive? Anyway last time we left it near Ruffec, someone decided to knock part of the rear wing off! It's not worth repairing professionally so does anyone know where to buy a fibre glass kit from?
  9. Mellecom is just the company I pay each month for internet use. I use outlook express to send and receive email. That is about all I know..I think they use wanadoo as the server!
  10. many thanks for all the replies
  11. For many weeks now I have had problems at weekends sending emails. O.k. to recieve them though. Is it something to do with the server being busy do you think. I am with Mellecom. Anyone else with same problem?
  12. Our front tyre required replacing so visited a garage in Niort who were giving a discount...only to be told that in France it is obligatoire to replace both of them even if only one is worn! Is this true? Or is it again another french scam against us Brits!
  13. thanks for that...but I am trying to convince my husband that a caravan is a good idea!!!
  14. We have a ford mondeo 1800 turbo diesel estate. Have seen a caravane 900 kgs for sale. Will it be suitable. many thanks,
  15. The prospect of France's first female president took a leap forward last night after the Socialist party declared Ségolène Royal the winner of its candidate race. Front news of the Telegraph today...Perhaps Segolene will disclose how she creates her chic image....shopping at her local market in Melle?
  16. You are not allowed tow an english caravan on a french reg car full stop! I think this posting has been covered before many times. Hence why we picked up a bargain caravan but it's destined for use in the garden...its not going anywhere!
  17. Builder? In France we have artisans employed to do electrics, others to do plumbing, then you have placotplatres and charpentiers ect. Who ever you employ...be patient...the job will get done...eventually! Be specific and I may be able to recommend relevant artisans.
  18. Don't forget the excellent exhibition starting tomorrow http://www.menigoute-festival.org
  19. The gas heater in our caravan requires some kind of repair as it does not work. Does anyone know of such a person near Ruffec.
  20. yeah I would like to meet boiling a frog!!!!
  21. Anyone know why? Is it the sign of the times and the house renovation market where we brits have been supporting these shops is now slowing down?
  22. We stay at the Hotel de la Poste right in the centre and just 5  mins walk to the slopes. Basic accommodation, very good food.
  23. We have had at least 5 guests arriving at our gite after having to check out of their original gites due to substandard accommodation. Did your gite have a website? Were they advertised well? It is a shame for you and it is about time we name and shame these people.[:@] www.le-tilleul.com
