1. Hallo, Is there anyone with a horsebox who might be travelling through Brittany on the way to the Gers who would be good enough to transport a pony please. Thanks
2. Hallo, Is there anyone travelling with horses who would let us share costs to transport a pony from Finisterre to the Gers as sooon as possible.   Thanks

Hi Helen, An English horse-transporter who regularly brings horses across Europe told me that to be a 'stop-off' point' there has to be the neccessary paperwork done in France with the Ministry of Agriculture (a minefield!!) and that you have to be able to and have the facilities to do 20 horses.
4. DITTO the message above. There are lots of riding schools who sell off all their horses at the end of the season for a very small price and some of them let people have them on loan for the winter months. In any case it is VERY unfair to keep a pony of it's own. They are very much herd animals and need their own kind for company. It's a very sad life on their own and they are not toys to discard when you are fed up with them, despite what lots of well-intentioned parents think!!! This isn't meant to sound nasty and I cannot find a smiley face to put on this - don't know how to do it!!!
5.
Hi Bella Do you live in Brittany? I've bought a horse here in the Uk now, were picking her up on 19 september so hopefully i'll have time to bond with her before heading for France. I am definately...
Hi Cary, Yes, we are in Brittany and our horses originally lived in the UK. If you want a horse to buy over here there are hundreds and hundreds of miles to travel to see one. When we first bought a French horse we looked around for a long time as most of the so-called riding horses were half wild!!!! We still ask her to do things in French but still talk to our English horses in English!!. Sorry if you are someone else but I cannot figure out this web-site such as who replied to who. How is it done, any idea?? It seems even more time consuming and it took ages to find a particular thread. Best of luck with your new horse. You must be quite excited. Has he got a friend to keep him company when he gets here?
6.
My Husband and I are thinking of working a ski season in the French Alps for 4 months to tide us over through the winter. We have two labradors and two kittens that will need looking after. Does anybo...
We know someone who might be able to dog and cat sit. Do you particularly want your pets to go boarding or could someone possible stay in their own house and look after them??

horse riders

We are near the border of Finistere and Cote d'Amour. Which place are you exactly so we can work out the milage? We have several horses here who need much more work and the hacking is very good. Also I would love some company out riding!!
8. Hi, Only trouble with the horse fairs is you never know the history of the pony or horse. Great if you have plenty of experience to bring something on or get it over possible psychological problems but if you want a childs pony you cannot be too careful. Think it will cost you a lot more than 400 for a very reliable one and if you already have one which you like and trust he or she should enjoy it in Brittany. We brought ours over and they have tons more freedom.
9. Hi, I have sent some info. for you re the house in the Gers.
10. Hi, We have moved from midi-pyrenees, a very beautiful area and are now living right up the north west for personal reasons. Have a small farm in the south west and need a caretaker.
11. Wonder if it's the same bloke as the one who ripped us off. He has many things going on and I know he sells computers also on e-bay. Have you got his name please as I'm trying to get people to do something about him. There are only two of us at the moment. Please send it to the e-mail as this might get deleted!!!
12. Yes, if there are enough euros to hand but agree with other posts that perhaps being too isolated might not be such a good thing - it can be so useful to have neighbours. Trouble is what you might be looking for will possibly be a ruin that has been used for hundreds of years for animal housing because there are few houses completely on their own. On the pictures they might look a dream come true but take a look inside.......!!! Brittany is so varied it might pay to look around to see what areas dry up completely in the summer and some areas are very heathy. Near the canal is a good place in the summer but on the other hand the winters might be a bit dodgy with flooding and the horses will be in the mud.
13. Hi Steve and Marie, Have posted a message in your in-box. Can you let us know if you got it please? Thanks
14. Hi Issy, The Gers is beautiful. We have lived there and it was with a big regret that we moved. The people are so friendly, most of them, the life is very slow and everyone loves their fetes. Lots of the time the shops are closed because of them. Are you looking by chance for somewhere to stay? Just asked because we are looking for a house-sitter there for some months.
15. What part are you looking in? We need a house-sitter (unfurnished) in dept. 32 for at least 3 months.
16. Hi, So sorry about your problem. Sounds a terrible situation to be in. Are the children old enough to make up their own minds. Whichever way you look at it someone is going to suffer badly. Think we contacted each other about 2 years ago on this site about horse fencing.
17. Hi, Is there anyone out there who would like to ride a 14.3 horse around the chemins in Central Brittany. He's 20 years old and has been there and done everything and he's bored. He's not happy with novice riders but is a dream with experienced ones. Please, not too many kilo's!! We are also looking for horse-sitter as we have others (three tiny ones and 2 other big ones) They are very easy. We need to get away in the near future.
18. There's been so much talk about the sharp practices of the ferry companies especially by the Sunday Times Jonathon......... who does the Green Fields article, which I find very amusing. He has the courage to try to stand up to them with their ridiculous pricing. It's possible to get five different prices from the same company for the same thing on the same day- how can that be allowed to happen. Think of a number, double it, add 100......!!!
19. Be VERY careful. There is one operating near there (can't remember his name I'm afraid) who nearly killed my horse when he started without me being there and caused him eight weeks of pain and suffering. Check other people's horses feet and see what you think.
20. Have had three beautiful mirrors taken from our house in the Gers (near Auch). I am offering a large reward for the return of these. One is hand painted with red and pink roses on a beige background with gold surround and the other is painted in antique Italian style with plums, apples and pears, also with a gold surround. The borders are about 8" wide or more. The other is a Taiwanese pale green carved wood with opening doors. Please e-mail me if you have any info. at all and I will forward our tel. no. Thankyou in advance
21. Pasture land is roughly 1200 euros a hectare. It can vary a bit depending on if it's hilly or not.
