ADSL - at last - change of supplier
JayJay replied to Iceni's topic in French Satellite TV, French Internet and Telephone
Di Have you done the test from the Tiscali/Alice home page? I was with Tiscali then went ADSL with them & just 2 months later they merged with Alice but no problems. Still can't get used to the speed! 6m 15s call to UK was .247ttc, all French calls free. jayjay -
I'm handicapped, an invalid, disabled or any other names people want to call it. What does it matter!? Could it come from cap in hand? If you're totally incapable of work you go cap in hand to the DSS don't you? jayjay

Thanks Maple, I'll pass this onto him. Especially the fact it'll probably be cheaper getting it in England. Thanks both for your replies jayjay

Hello Bob Thankyou for your reply. Sorry, i must admit, i don't know what i was asking about, it was just a request from my cousin. I'll have to check on the name again but i'm sure he'll be happy with the info you've posted though. Thanks once again jayjay

Hi fisherfolk My cousin is coming over for a fishing trip & has asked me to source a Shimano carp baitmaster 1000. Has anyone any ideas on where to get one & roughly how much. Thankyou. jayjay

I had Tiscali & upgraded to their ADSL service 2 months ago. It's great, no problems even though it's gone to Alice. The phone part is fine. We have a phone plugged into the back of the Triway box & if we make any calls to a French number they go via that & are free. We have another phone plugged into another separate FT socket (but same line) for all international calls as like many we have a cheap phone company that they go through. All works well. Fast too! Hope this helps & you can understand my babble as i'm not very computer minded, there again, if i got it working, anyone can! jayjay

Apparently it's derived from a Sanskrit word, the word "avatar" referred to an incarnation of a Hindu god in the form of a human or animal. You could try looking here for one http://www.planetsmilies.com/avatars/avatars.php

"the horrid stuff was called Izal" Who would think to make water repellent toilet paper? A joker? You had to get a load & sit rubbing it together to de shine it. We found some really decent loo paper, fosse friendly, on promo in L'eclerc a couple of weeks ago. Now can't find it anywhere! It was the equivalent to a decent UK one. It had a lab pup on, but the one they have now is the normal c?p?y thin stuff!
I know I'll regret asking, but what did the world do before that particular invention ?
Well, hopefully they didn't shake hands a lot!!!!

Hi both I'm a wheelchair user & France is not brilliant! People are very friendly & helpful but that's not the problem. Drop kerbs in France don't really exist so you either have to have someone with you or go for a long hike to find one. Not forgetting cobbles!!!! Although they look lovely! France is a beautiful country, unfortunately access to a lot of it from a wheelchair is difficult, there are a lot of steps as Tresco said, there are old buildings & with the best will in the world they couldn't make chair friendly. There are wheelchair ramps in some places, mainly modern or government buildings though. Again as Tresco said, supermarkets are fine & the restos & usually the shops attached. Basically, it all depends on your problem, pain, mobility etc.. It is difficult but it is improving, slowly! You could always ask for info from tourist information in the desired location. Good luck jayjay

Hi Annabell, Do you fancy a longer drive up to 22, as there's a very big flea market in Lanvollon on Sunday. 850+ stalls! It's excellent & we've never completed it yet. In fact, they have 2 a year June & July/August. There is, according to the Calendrier des Brocantes Brittany version, one in 35 at Saint Benoit des Ondes(near Cancale/St Malo), 200 stalls on Saturday, Sunday & Monday. Or as someone has suggested, try & get the book Calendrier des Brocantes or books in your case. Hope this helps jayjay
