Hi Suey, I'm the same as Norman, have them regularly on various body parts. haven't had one on the breasts but a friend of mine just did. You have to lay on your tummy and your boobs sort of fit into 2 holes lol. Not at all painfull like a mamogram. Janey

Yes Suey, you need to tell your mutuelle the date you're going in and ask them to fax a prise en charge for your stay etc. I've just done it for myself, going in next week. Good luck. Janey

Suey, if you decide to have your ovaries and fallopian tubes removed, as you say you don,t need them anymore. I had a total hysterectomy at age 39, everything had served it,s purpose, alright I was then straight into a surgically induced menopause. But as ovarian cancer is SO hard to detect very worth considering. I was diagnosed with colon cancer here in France 4 yrs ago, very advanced, stage 3, mets in lymph nodes. Very traumatic surgery, chemo the lot. But here I still am, happily. They don,t call cancer the silent killer for nothing. As for having your breasts removed, that is something they normally try to avoid in France, only you can make that decision. But, breast cancer is detected much more easily with regular mamograms and echo graphies. I hope you make the best decision for you. Best wishes, Janey

Well, mine went to the one in their catchment area, luckily it was a good one too. So, hopefully the person asking will have achoice then..times change and I,ve got a bad memory lol But as for fees dependant on income that one I haven,t heard. That is the price a friend(French)pays. My son did do his last year in a private college and then went on to a private Lycee and the fees were standard for everyone, that I do know. I,m not talking about private international schools, just ordinary private French schools.The girls just went to public schools, no probs whatsoever. Anyway, hopefully this will help as the two colleges mentioned are both very good. Janey

Hi, just read your post. Unless I,m wrong I think you,ll find when you,re actually living here, the kids will go to the college in their catchment area. We live 15 mins from Nimes and when the kids were younger that,s how it worked.(although mine didn,t go to school in Nimes) Things might have changed now so if you can actually choose where they go I,m not sure. Whatever happens you don,t really want them going to one on the outskirts of Nimes and if they propose one to you in La Zup...say NO! There is one in town center,College de la Revolution...friends kids have gone their and apparently it,s not too bad. Janey

Yes sorry Théière, I forgot to say that I do hoover it to waste when I see it. I still get it but I shock the pool as you said, I now use a really concentrated form of Anti Algues, I keep on top of that and the chlorine, maybe adding a bit more than someone else does but it must be working as the water is crystal clear and sparkling.

I had that problem with my above ground pool for years and got fed up of spending a fortune on chemicals. So I did what someone recommended on here, dumped the sand filter and pump that came with the pool, bought a new more powerfull one and it,s SO much more easier to clean. The pool hoover wizzes round in a couple of minutes, with the old pump it would take forever to go round the pool once. I think you might have Mustard Algae, that,s what I worked it out to be, bought the products for it and much improved. Mustard Algae is sand like, just comes over in the air/rain etc. But hardly a problem at all now with the new pump/filter. Janey

Nick, I don,t know how this works and I,m still trying to find out. But it is possible for more than one member of a household to do the same activity without having to register as AE twice. I have friends that are AE,s. They have a property management business, they are both registered as doing the same activity, together thus being allowed to earn 64,000 and not just 32,000. This was all setup for them by a French accountant. They do not declare 2 seperate earnings, just one joint. I,m trying to do the same thing myself without having to use an accountant to start with. My French is good but so far it,s not clear on the AE registration site how to go about this. I don,t want to make a mistake that I can,t undo. Don,t know if anyone else knows more. But it does state clearly on their own site that more than one person in a household may do the same thing. Janey.

Thanks Vida and Albert for your replies. No this isn,t a windup and yes I do have an idea! This has got nothing to do with the UK or the questions you asked. Simply the 3 of us want to do something together, all of us are qualified people, I was simply asking was it possible to work as a partnership under the autoentrepreneur scheme..each of us working as partners, each of us paying contributions,taxes etc.as for do some basic research, the reason I posed the question here is because there are always others that have gone down that road and have the imformation to hand..and don,t mind helping others of course. Can anyone answer this question for me please?My husband and I and my brother want to start up an autoentrepreneur scheme together. Basically it will be property management "type" but hubby and brother will be doing carpentry,DIY type stuff and offering other services. What I want to know is do we set it up in 1 name or 2 or 3? If it,s set up in one name,can all 3 of us be covered for health care,contributions etc? I know we can only earn up to 80,000e(think it,s just been changed to 82) that,s ok, not looking to make a fortune. But how do we go about doing this as a joint venture? Hope this makes sense. I agree with gardengirl, when you are in a state of shock, you need someone to help you, to be able to communicate in your own language. I don,t think they,re trying to raise funds ..just for English speakers...just trying to help those who,s French isn,t quite good enough to deal with something as tough as discovering you,ve got cancer. I discovered 3 yrs ago...in France..that I had colon cancer,quite advanced. I was lucky,my French is good but now after 3 yrs of hospitals, oncologists,chemo and every thing else it,s excellant. Others aren,t that lucky and believe me if you thinkit,s easy to discuss all that in a language you,re not quite sure of..it,s not, apart from that, you NEED to be able to discuss/ask questions on your own language.So, if you,re near there, please drop by and support them. Even though my French was good, I remember wishing I knew someone English going through the same thing. And just in case there is someone needing help or advise, just message me or e-mail me. You can get moses baskets in France, go to any baby shop. As someone said earlier they are called ..couffins. I bought one for my daughter in December. Think it cost approx 75 euros. My little grandaughter is 4mths old and still in it with room to spare. janey

Hi everyone, haven,t been on here for ages, been seriously ill for the past year, just recovering from cancer. Just happened to glance on the forum and wanted to reply to this one. We moved here nearly 7 yrs ago now. Our kids were then 9 1/2, 14 and 16. They all went directly into French schools. Like someone else said, we didn,t have English TV so the only English they spoke was at home. They are now 22, 20 and 16. The 22 yr old is a florist. She found an apprenticeship after leaving lycee, she now has her CAP and has one yr left of her BP to do, jjust taking 1 yr off as has just had a little baby. The 20 yr old again after leaving lycee found an apprenticeship and is now an electrician, has his CAP and BP, now has his own apprentice. The 16 yr old is in a private lycee doing hairdresing, will leave with her CAP, go on to do her BP and then has plans to open her own shop. They all chose to go along these routes themselves. They are extremely bright kids but had no interest in going to university, not all kids want to go down that route.We let them do what they chose to do. They all left french schools with good moyens, in the higest numbers. Were they just lucky, I don,t think so; there are success stories, there are jobs to be had. But it is true that it seems much easier to find manual jobs. They all wanted to work as soon as they left school and thankfully for them it has worked. Janey
