  1. When I sold my late mother's house I found the notaire absolutely useless. He never almost never responded to phone calls or emails, cancelled appointments knowing full well that people had flown in from abroad especially, and delegated to people who had no idea. We didn't choose him, he was my mother's notaire, chosen (by her) because he spoke English. That said, we sold the house through a local agent immobilier, who couldn't have been more helpful. Good luck with the sale.
  2. For Paris, it all just seems unmanageable, better to say that masks must be worn in all outside spaces, from perhaps 9am to midnight. Otherwise the switching between mask free and masked up spaces will be a nightmare.
  3. That is so sad to hear, she was far too young, and so very twinkly.
  4. Me neither. Would the OP perhaps like us to google it, to increase the ranking?
  5. Macron will be addressing the nation at 8pm tomorrow evening, so there will no doubt be some more new rules then.
  6. The problem is that in France, the cause of death is not recorded on the death certificate.
  7. All the rules in English here (but can't make link clickable) https://www.thelocal.fr/20200318/frances-coronavirus-lockdown-form-your-questions-answered?fbclid=IwAR1nJTucQLLr9dpMjxg-cjvfAEb6496zKC5ENxb9qbbS4KT8VYPSbYGAnUE In answer to the OP, no more than 2kms.
  8. It is now clear that you need a form for each person in the car! Also, for Gardian, repeat prescriptions can now be filled at the pharmacy even if they need renewing (to avoid having to visit overworked doctors). Pharmacists now have the right to let you have everything on your expired prescription, up until May.
  9. The fact the they are proposing holding off on the 2nd tour of the elections until June doesn't exactly fill me with hope of a return to days of wine and roses anytime soon.
  10. I usually use a pressure washer with eau de javel, but, to reduce the risk of clothing damage, do it early in the morning, in the nude. Luckily we live far from the madding crowd!
  11. My French nationality is still being processed, but I doubt it will be done in time for me to vote, and that bothers me. I have always voted, and feel bereft.
  12. I could read it. I don't know when it was written, but he still refers to regions by their old names, and has a questionable view of what is "best".
  13. For parents, I wrote décedé(e) next to their names. You'll need to provide a certificate with their place and date of birth however. This could be their birth or death certificate, depending on their country of residence. Some prefectures ask for their wedding certificate as well.
  14. Oh Alf how you love to irritate people! I congratulate Norman on his persistance, gaining nationality in France is not easy. Stop nit-picking, go and change a nappy or something.
  15. mes félicitations, I'm still waiting to hear!
  16. Anyone who falls into this category may already know, but for anyone who doesn't, those over 60 applying for French nationality after 1st April 2020 will no longer be exempt from the language exams. After 1st April these will comprise of an oral AND written component.
  17. France is repatriating French nationals returning from China, and they will be screened on the plane(s) and quarantined for 14 days. Seems a better approach.
  18. I can't personally recommend anyone, but here is a list of dog classes in Pas de Caliais... http://www.chienplus.com/dept62.html Sorry, the link won't be clickable, damn forum software!

  20. For once, ALBF, I'm inclined to agree with you.
  21. I've used Fasthotel, very friendly and reasonable, and very close to the P6 budget parking http://www.booking.com/Share-XzXzxC sorry, my link won't be clickable, chrome versus forum software!
  22. Thanks TU, that's strangely beautiful, and also illuminating!
  23. We have the same here nomoss, and some of the stories behind them are heartbreaking. But there were also two collaborators that were taken out and shot after the liberation, people that had profited by reporting resistance fighters and Jews. One of them was hauled in a cart to the square in front of the church so that everyone would see and know. Which was apt, as he was the verger.
