1. how about maigre comme une bicycletteormaigre comme un clou and I used to love learning kid's slang from my sons and their palsfastoche instead of  facile : D
 2. hi idun - perhaps you were on holiday and missed it! I posted on here actively for years, but I can't remember what my user name was back then, which is why I re-joined a couple years ago with a new identity. I stopped posting all those years ago because of the silly, naive attitude of a lot of the members, but it's improved enormously these last few years. I can't find a members list anywhere, otherwise I could try and find my old user name. Oh well, it doesn't matter. this reply might be a bit of a mess, as I can't figure out how to use the quote thingy on here
 3. LOL - I remember bringing this subject up years and years ago when the forum had a different name. Not one member had ever heard of the New Year car burning and I was accused of inventing stories to disrupt the forum. Some people even suggested that I didn't live in France and that I was posting anti-French stuff from the UK!
 4. All the good fly halfs in the Top14 are foreigners blame teams like Toulon who sometimes start a match with only three French players
 5.
Linda, The recent terrorists in France did not not look ‘French’ to me. Not a stripped vest, beret or onion string in site. Also, France offered these families, peace, freedom of speech, liberty, healthcare and education... this is how France is repaid. Don't worry that my previous recommendation is not dealing with these latest perpetrators, that is in my plan ’B’, but I can’t post that as it would be deleted due to lack of freedom of speech rules. BTW when you say they have a legal right to be in Europe, is that legal by the rules of the present leaders, because I suspect and hope changes will be taking place to rid us of both them, and their multicultural ideals. It is because Europe has been soft and let anyone enter it in the recent past, that we have these ‘people’ here today and people like you who actually think of them as ‘French’. It’s a bit like saying Mo Farah the runner, Lewis Hamilton the car racer and Jaguar/Rolls Royce cars are British. They ain’t!!!!
What a repulsive load of tosh
 6.
I think that disgusting defamation of people's deeply felt beliefs goes far beyond freedom of expression, and is actually a deliberate intent to offend, not a particularly witty and artistic creation. Preaching on the rights to freedom of expression is a little curious on a forum where you can't even say shit if you step in it [8-)]
Are you trying to justify the revolting murder of 10 journalists/illustrators and two policemen in the name of a "deeply felt belief" ?

 8.
I think that the only thing that I will do different next time, and it will be in the medium future, will be to sell up everything and end all my interests in both countries, burn my bridges as it were.
Where will you go, Chancer, and how will you decide? I'm about to have a massive upheaval in my life, and I don't know whether to stay somewhere in France, or do something completely mad and move to the isles off the coast of Scotland where some of my ancestors came from.
 9.
I have a distinct impression that I know you from somewhere, Mr. Machine....[;-)]
as long as I don't owe you any money..... EDIT I'd forgotten how weird the software is on here - how the hell do we insert smilies?
 10.
I threw away my rose tinted specs years ago
I never had any But this place was a hot-bed of daft fluffyness ten or twelve years ago.
 11.
I remember those days....the days of "fluff" and "rose-tinted specs", where anyone who didn't portray France as The Promised Land was roundly chastised, and any attempt at offering a reality check was met with undisguised hostility!
LOL - just happened to come across this thread today on one of my very rare visits and that rang a bell!! That's around the time I joined this forum, and it was that attitude that drove me away. I clearly remember being torn apart by everyone in one particular thread just for mentioning how many cars got torched on the evening of Saint-Sylvestre every year - I was naive enough to assume that everyone would know about it. I was accused of trying to spread lies about France, disrupting the forum, and some said I didn't even live in France and that I was just trolling, when in fact I'm married into a French family and had been here for about twenty years at that time. Sorry, don't know what my user-name was, as I lost my forum details years ago after I stopped posting. As Betty says, there's a lot less fluffiness around these days, and even if forum participation seems to have dropped off, it's probably better for it? PS hello, everyone
