  1. That's my question...where do you get the 3 nights from in this post???
  2. Hi lisa....where do you get the "3 nuits blanches...." from??...are we reading the same post?
  3. I have always read that the only poisonous snake present in France is of the Viper family. (I guess you have different family types of the beast).
  4. Depuis quelques temps mon chien marche de travers, comme si il penchait d'un coté. Je ne sais pas si c'est un problème de balance ou une ébauche à lever la patte pour se gratter, geste qu'il n'arriverai pas à accomplir.... Better to explain the symptoms and let the Vet come up with the correct medical term for it.
  5. The nearest Kiloutou appears to be in Montlucon. They have a nice van available to B driver licence holder. Link is here www.kiloutou.fr/Location/Location-Elevation-Echafaudage/Location-Camion-nacelle/Location-Camion-nacelle-7.85-m
  6. Correct, the meter will work at any angle.....in order to change it you could move it with two bits of pipes attached, re-site where you want it to be and create 2 x new connections.
  8. "Perhaps learning to speak/write English correctly would be a better place to begin" ...... a) i did apologise b) i guess we could find many poorer spellers on this forum c) i had noticed the bad spelling but it was too late.
  9. Yes, sorry i apologise and take your point; However this could have been used as a fruitful conversational exercise.
  10. Here comes the Brits again....Happy to live in a foreign country but don't want to learn or speak the linguo........ Anyway this post has had all the answers it needed so it can safely stop
  11. Y a pas de mal.....nous faisons tous des erreurs de frappe. .....Alors et le Tarn et Garonne???? ou l'Aveyron?????
  12. How about contacting a fibro-ciment panel manufacturer and ask them the question??? as in what kind of asbestos was used as part of their raw material bill in those days. Again, i hardly think that would be the immediate death to you kind.
  13. La Creuse is the French departement the least populated (after Le Larzac !!!). Fine if you like being on your own but consider that doctors/hospitals etc are miles away from each other. Tarn et Garonne is lovely too !
  14. Asbestos in fibro-ciment panels is not loose and open to the air, it is well confined within the panel itself. If you are unsure, wear a mask when moving them but there is the problem.....are you going to drive to your local tip looking like a man from the local nuclear plant or are you going to ask an approved company to take care of it? There are zillion of these panels across Europe and if the product was a danger to manhood now that we know what we know about asbestos, half of France and the UK would be a no go area. IMO safe to handle move about.
  15. Not sure where, may be in the waste pipe not far from the boiler.
  16. That's what this forum is for, offer help to those who need it. I have just spoken to Worcester Technical people ( 0844 892 3366 ) who basically told me: - Worcester Bosch only tested in the UK. This means they know how it works on UK gas but don't know what is the calorific value of the French gas (natural gas that is). - The boiler reference you mention is available in both Natural Gas and LPG versions. The LPG version would work perfectly in France. The output of the Natural Gas version would depend on the quality of your gas supply. But as i said to the Tech boy, you are not moving to Burkina Fasso and French gas is as good as any other gas in Europe. Thinking of it this is also a lot of toch as lately, the gas purchased by Western Europe came from Russia via Ukraine!!! (France also buys from Algeria though) Fitting rules also vary from one country to another ie. the condensate can be evacuated outside in UK but not allowed in France. This would anyhow be taken care of by your boiler installer/plumber in France. If you need any help with translation do not hesitate to ask.
  17. Contact Worcester's technical department and ask the question. If i can buy a German Vaillant Combi-boiler for my UK house, you can certainly get a Worcester for France. Why but Worcester in the first place? Is this down to costs?
  18. Gyn-Paul has a point. For moisture to condensate, you need moisture in the first place. Can i turn this posting into a question for my own usage. There is a great video on YouTube showing you how to insulate/plasterboard your loft area (a commercial video from Isover but the detailed explanations are good) www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn35DzLU_eU As you see from this very informative video, they put their insulation between rafters first then perpendicularly fit another slice of insulation then seal the whole lot with sheets of heavy gauge polyethene in order to stop draughs coming into the loft area. The plasterboard comes on top of the plastic sheeting. This in itself is also creating a sealed enclosed area as there will be double glazed roof windows etc......what about internal condensation if only from the basic survival operation of breathing??? Your comments are appreciated. Merci.
  19. Word of warning, if you start painting the outside walls now, you will have to paint them again and again et encore et encore evry 3 or 4 years and again....and again....
  20. There are various videos on YouTube showing the various steps of "combles amenageables" loft insulation. Once the Rockwoll/brown paper slices have been fitted between the rafters, they actually put down a heavy gauge plastic sheeting that is carefully sliconed to all sides in order to stop drafts coming into the room (this is called air barrier). Only after these plastic sheets have been fitted, do they start screwing the plaster boards down.
  21. Am considering going shopping for insulation in Poland (Rockwool or Celotex equivalent) and trucking it back to the house. I will be going there end of May for business and will spend some time in the DIY shops. Will report back then.
  22. Read my bit about Nun's thighs.... :-) xx
