cafetieres

Leclerc sells them. Though last time I broke one I decided to buy a filter machine for €15 rather than a new glass bit for €12. John
Doesn't the size of Nigellas' hips put you off eating anything she makes?
No, I just think of cold winter nights and no need for an electric blanket. A. Fan
3.
Ok, I know this is really stupid thing to do but I thought "what the hell, why not"..
Just to clarify - are you referring to trying to find him or what you did in Croatia? John
4. ... they are watching you Di was searching Google for "Iceni-it" and there, at #8 on page 1, was Coop's post about the forthcoming lunch at Quatre Routes on the Lot leg of the mini tour. Does that count towards our 15 mins of fame? John
5. Had our first pickings yesterday evening. Seems earlier than usual so perhaps the winter was not as cold as it seemed. John
6.
We bought our "cottage" in Burgundy 21 years ago now. It was a holiday home in the countryside surrounded by only French people. We loved it. We always thought we'd retire there . Then we retired. Reader, we realised it was not to be. By now we had a busy and interesting life in England, then the grandchildren came along..........
Yes I agree, France is probably too close to England. John
7. "Heading south" usually means weakening. Are you confusing GBP and EUR? John
8.
Isn't BB the mut's wotsits?[:D]
Can't believe Alberta's Run did it again. AP must have beeen wondering what he had to do to get a win the 2 come along. I still fancy Kempes for a place bet tomorrow - or would if I gambled. John
9. Wi-fi? I'm not even sure that it has electric lighting. John
10. I realise that your mind is now fully occupied with Prestbury Park and all things equine but have you finalised your itinerary for the Lot leg of the tour? TTFN John
11. Ireland who probably didn't deserve to win did not deserve to lose to a non-try. John
12.
Was it ever a legal requirement for plates to be rivetted or is it just another of these myths perpetuated by well meaning but indoctrinated Frenchmen and people on forums?
My UK reg Mist Wagen failed a CT because the plates were held on with double sided tape but "no prob" said the man, "you're going to re-reg it anyway". When I purchased my latest set of plates the rivets were provided for the job to be done at home - lest I use UK RHD rivets? John
13. simi90 - in reply to your PM It is selfish because it prevents other people enjoying them. If everyone took just 3 or 5 (and I would be very surprised if you stopped at such a low number) there would soon be none left. If you want them so badly, buy your own, tell us where you live and we will pick yours. John
14. That's selfish even if allowed. John
15. Perhaps Speedferries would still be a going concern if it had charged more for trailers. John
16. We are still using an old Samsung Izzi (using Lexmark drivers - perhaps it is) bought around the turn of the century and it was obsolete then. At least with a laser you can give the cartridge a good shake when it pretends to be empty. Di has just informed me that when the cartridge is really empty the printer will have to go. There is a Brother of a similar age in the cupboard but it may not be possible to buy cartridges for that either. The paper feeder is prone to failure I am told. Our copying needs are met by an elderly Epson scanner and I have successfully resisted Di's demands for a colour laser or all-in-one on the grounds that these fall into the "want" not "need" category. Our advice? Buy the cheapest b&w laser printer you can find - unless you intend to print and reprint War and Peace regularly ink costs should not be much of an issue. John
17. Checked our asparagus bed yesterday and there are a couple of little purple phalluses just peeping above ground, Not long now. John
18. Drywall - and I thought that this was a forum for English speakers. John
19.
All in all I thought the Oscars were fairly distributed this year and awarded on merit, not sentimentality for a change.
I think that means that you agree with the result. On principle I am opposed to any event that relies on opinion to decide the winner(s) and dressage can be the first to go. John
20. A curry gourmand friend will be here next month and I seek somewhere suitable in the Brive-Figeac-Cahors-Souillac-ish area. Any help/advice gratefully received. TIA John
21.
All the replies are correct. Just remember that if you have a friend visting you who is expecting mail, the address must include "Chez Meiklejohn" so the postie knows which of the many similar addresses he must deliver the mail to. Virginia
Not sure how "Chez Meiklejohn" would help our postwoman but I will take your word for it. John
22. It is also far easier to spot the typos. John
23. Babbles - value is a subjective possibly even intangible thing. Perhaps you mean price? John
24.
At school I was always near or at the top of the class in English and spelling but these days even some simple words have me thinking 'have have I spelt that correctly' [:(]
That's bad Ern when a 4 letter word defeats you. John
