  1. Wow, this query of mine seems to have electrified the forum into a plethora of responses. Some lively, some neutral and others down to earth. Thank you. Mrs c's initial charge to my suggestion has become a resistance and has blown a fuse, so watt does the future hold? For the time being, she has decided to pull the plug on an immediate purchase of an Alpine this year. She feels she has ample time to wait until 2025 when we will have moved into our new ohm. By then, the Alpine will be in current production and on sale throughout Alpine's 33 distribution lines. She will then be able to generate more research and gauge reviews as to the quality and performance of the car. Her current vehicle still serves her well. I do find the Citroen Ami quite revolting, but if that's your thing, go for it. Each to their own, as they say. I don't have the patience or energy to generate more spark into the foisted upon us green policies, which by the way I consider a croque, and the country's overall lack of available working bournes. Hopefully I will be able to re-wire this thread in the future with an outcome which does not create a potential difference between the both of us.
  2. Martin, thanks for the comprehensive response. This all evolved after I had taken a cab ride, which didn't initially register as a Tesla The driver was very pleased with his acquisition, and I was equally impressed by the style and comfort. I relayed this experience to Mrs c. Your thoughts are similar to ours in most of the scenarios. It would be a vehicle for 'pottering around' as the downsized apartment we will be moving into is city centre. There are plenty of 'bornes de recharge' available around, and some are even free for the first hour! The length of the garage, 5 metres, will be a factor in the choice of vehicle. The previous owner had to dump his Mercedes owing to this issue. The ground clearance could be an issue all so as there are some speed prevention horror humps around on some roads. She considered an Audi TT until I pointed this hazard out. Doing some research I came across an Alpine 290 ÎČ which caught my eye which I believe would fill all her criteria. Mrs c will be financing the purchase, but not via one of those buy/rent/lease deals, which we'd never touch. Once again, thanks for the response. It's very much appreciated. I'll tell Mrs c of your thoughts and ultimately the final decision will rest with her. She does love to mull things over. I will keep you up to speed on her progress. 👍
  3. I thought I would make this the first place of research, as it is generally French flavoured, and it would be purchased and used here in France. Does anybody here have any experience or knowledge, good or bad, on the ownership and running of an EV. Mrs c is considering the purchase of one, and I apparently seem to know diddly squat about them. I believe first-hand experience is a far greater barometer of things than a more than likely paid for review on a manufacturer's website. Any pointers or opinions will be gratefully received and much appreciated.
  4. As a gun owner and an avid veteran hunter, Tim Walz received "A" ratings from the National Rifle Association in his 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 congressional re-election races.

Firstly, let me say, don't clock out as you will just be succumbing to the thoughts and minds of a couple of biased members and their postings. I believe you've received a lot of excellent advice from some very caring posters. That is worth far more than any negative minority posts, and remember lifestyle is subjective and not a one style fits all as some believe or seem to expect. Have you ever considered returning to Evian and approaching your medical practitioners and the medical units you previously used? I know Evian fairly well from the time I lived in the Haute Savoie and there are certainly worse places you can live in France. Anyway, whatever direction you select to pursue, I wish you well and keep posting as I am sure the majority will be interested in the progress and outcome of your endeavours. Good luck. 👍
  6. I guess the ÂŁ500,000,000 purported to have been donated to the French govt. by the UK govt. to patrol the beaches for small boat departures, which I am led to believe has not been spent accordingly, should go some way to covering the cost of a few plates of chow and bottles of wine and liquor at the Versailles banquet for the UK King. At the same time, the remaining cash will be more than adequate to cover the funding of all the other hooleys afforded by the Presidential office, with plenty left over to cover the cost for this year happenings.
  7. Euthanasia tends to end in death for someone. I doubt many will die if the banning of the use of certain clothing Items goes ahead.
  8. I can confirm that the nose (nasal passage) contains both bone and cartilage. As a kid I had difficulty with breathing through my nose and I underwent surgery of partial cartilage removal, the bone scraped and adenoid removal to cure the problem.
  9. Well they would, wouldn't they, after all it is an obscure organisation whose leader refers to gay men as 'faggots'. When I catch a glimpse of the Grim ReaperđŸ§™â€â™‚ïž on the horizon, I'll be on the first plane to Switzerland, knocking, not on heaven's door but, that of Dignitas. ⌛
  10. Good call. While you are in editing mode, could you correct my error with the word "Auchant". It would seem a publishing house is morphing into a food retailer.
  11. There is no history on here pre 23rd August 2004, the date a change of software was released, resulting in the loss of all previous posts and membership details. I did find this on Archant (previous owners/publishers)on Wikipedia: Consumer magazine publisher Market Link Publishing, now Archant Specialist, based in Essex was acquired by ECNG for ÂŁ5 million in autumn 1999. Its titles now include Photography Monthly, Professional Photographer, Pilot, Sport Diver, Complete France, which sponsors a once popular, but failing French forum, French Property News, Living France, and France Property Shop. It also sponsors The France Show at Olympia and The French Property Exhibitions in London and Yorkshire
  12. AVG antivirus software launched in the US in 1998 and one of my first posts circa 2000/01 was to advise a member who was having issues updating their software definitions to download updates from the Czech. site (The parent company Grisoft) as the US site was having issues.
  13. We informed the agent during our first visit to the property as to how we intended to fund the purchase. Cash, with no requirement for our present home to be sold or the necessity to acquire loans. Maybe I'm missing something here. The email contact with the agent was Une Offre d'Achat. The offer was accepted with this reply: The Names and Addresses of the 3 sellers. It was an Inheritance Ci-aprĂšs "le Vendeur", DĂ©clare accepter sans rĂ©serve, purement et simplement, l'offre d'achat qui m'a Ă©tĂ© transmise par l'Agence FT Department and City location pour les biens situĂ©s Address of property to be purchased au prix de €in text and figures. No mention of funding was included in either correspondence. Any Clause Suspensive we wanted to be included would then be accepted or rejected by the sellers. If they are accepted, (we didn't request any)they would have been included within the Compromis de Vente along with a clause setting out the funding of the purchase etc, etc and signed. Within the Acte de Vente the following clause was included ORIGINE DES FONDS L’ACQUEREUR dĂ©clare avoir effectuĂ© le paiement du prix et des frais au moyen de ses fonds personnels.
  14. Last Wednesday we signed an Acte de Vente for an appartment we intend to downsize too in the next couple of years. We originally made a verbal offer to the agent which was rejected and the sellers propsed a higher offer price which we rejected. The following day the agent accepted our original offer on behalf of the sellers and requested the offer to be made in writing. We declined the request to use the sellers notaire. This is an edited copy of the offer we made via email. Objet: offre d’achat au prix concernant un bien immobilier situĂ© Ă  RĂ©sidence.... Full address. The reason we included the terrace as a separate, independent plot was because the original purchasers/owners at the construction stage purchased the two top floor plots but only had an apartment constructed on one plot and the 2nd plot was constructed as a terrace but still retains its individual plot number. Do your research and your homework. Good Luck.
  15. Me too. Along with its fruit vegetable lookalike - Cucumber. đŸ€Ź I can feast on cauliflower florrets (with white sauce and cheese topping) but I only indulge in broccoli stems.
  16. An interesting and informative post. Interesting in so much that I was unaware of the existence of Wallace and these dual-purpose artefacts (looks and serving a usefulness). Certainly something to visit if in a nearby location. Informative by dispelling a 50+ year anomaly, for me, of the term "Wallace Collection". You see, I always assumed that the name could be solely attributed to a 1960s band from Belgium who attained a certain amount of success throughout Europe during that 'pop' era. Perhaps some of you of a certain age here will recollect this number they performed. Wallace Collection - Daydream HQ -1969-(3).mp4 .
  17. The snowdrops and crocus/croci 💐are in full bloom in the garden. Yesterday I saw a second butterfly 🩋 of the year and some bees 🐝. Unfortunately, there isn't any food available for them yet.
  18. I would suggest that you glean your information from a wider source than some 'Brit Forum'. This is not just a French agricultural issue but a European one, Holland, Germany, Romania, Ukraine,UK and soon to be global. It is basically driven by four issues. The madness of climate change 'green issues', unfavourable subsidies, low return to cost ratio and over population of the world. To not support the farming dilemma is sheer insanity, and who would want to be a farmer anyway? It's a no-brainer. Reports are saying that Paris's food stock is down to 3 days.
  19. Why do I get an inclination, Barack Obama would give you an argument? He was, after all, only 47. 😉
  20. I use Firefox and following a connection 'timeout' it will report to your screen if a site you are attempting to access is operational. It checks and reports on your computer's capability to access the internet, the location and connection status you have with the server you are being routed through, and the operational status of the site you are attempting to access.
