2.
There's not much life or enthusiasm on this forum. Just thinking aloud, sorry.
Less thinking and more action on your behalf following "fittersmate's" advice will bring up any amount of properties available during your specified time period. Here's a clue to help you on your way - Google -> '3 month property rental charente maritime'
 3.
I also found this but can't open it: https://www.formulaires.modernisation.gouv.fr/gf/cerfa_13788.do
I attempted to open the link with the same result. However, check your download folder as the link you posted is an automatic download of a pdf document which can be opened. Hope that helps.
 4.
Give me a minute and I'll try to weave a tenuous link with pesky caterpillars ;-)
How's this for starters? Tent Caterpillar Wine
 5. Noisette. Thanks for the heads up re the bacterial spray solution. We will be tracking some down locally. Too late for the neighbour though- a chainsaw will be his best option.
 6. Most gardeners will be aware of the processionary caterpillar and the problems it causes.  Now its cousin, the box caterpillar and moth, from east Asia is making strong inroads around Europe destroying acres of box tree in its path. Mme. c, fortunately, has been on top of this situation since last year and daily inspects and removes the caterpillars by hand from the dozen or so plants we purloined while visiting the countryside several years ago. However, our neighbour who lives in Paris and has several properties scattered around Europe hasn't visited here since early last summer and his once magnificent 2 metre high boxwood hedge surrounding his property has been all but obliterated by these insects within nine or ten months. Anyone suffering the effects of these caterpillars or is just interested, the European Boxwood and Topiary Society has all the info here.
 7.
Why would I buy a new laptop with Windows 7 when mainstream support is already discontinued and extended support has less than 2 years to run? And when I actually have no axe to grind with Windows 10?
The machine I linked to is powerful, a good price and capable enough to handle W10. Like powerdesal I'm perfectly content with W7 on my 10 year old Dell laptop which will not support W10 because of the graphics. However, I have downloaded an ISO image file of W10 from MS and should I decide to purchase the Lenovo I linked to, as and when it becomes necessary to run W10, then I shall run the ISO W10 installation on the Lenovo. With regard to mobile communication devices, the nearest I came to using one of those was a CB radio when I lived in the USA in the 70's and 80's.
 8.
I reckon between £300 and £600 will get a perfectly serviceable laptop, with a warranty but unfortunately it will be Windows 10 (spit).
£309.99 with Win7. Here
 9. Several years ago I bought a tube of mastic réfactaire from Bricomarche, 'Pyro Feu'. Resistant a la Flame et jusqu'a 1500 °C Montage entretien Foyers Inserts Poêles Cheminées It's applied using a standard mastic gun and it does what it is supposed to do. I would recommend it.
 10.
Now, if alone, I would head to Vancouver Island like a shot if I had the papers.
Well you'd feel quite at home as it's full  of ex London Transport buses doing the tourist bit. regards cajal
 11. NORMAN old buddy. I only know that it is 'one day' this week so here's a little something for you. regards the cajal household.
 12. I was knocked back by Tesco last Monday  even though I have a Regular Saver with them. I chose them, for my initial application on-line, as their current account pays 3%. When I have time I will apply to Nationwide, TSB and Bank of Scotland as their current accounts are all interest paying accounts up to a fixed ammount. Whether foreign residents will be offered these interest bearing accounts reamains to be seen. regards cajal
