Deauville
My tax situation is simple and I have downloaded the relevant forms (2047 and 2042) as advised by my local hotel d'impots but I am now wondering if a declaration is required from someone else (my wife) who has no income and therefore no tax to pay. Am I right in assuming that every adult resident in France is required to make a declaration whether in receipt of income or not?
suein56
The 2042 is the main form and on it you will find you can write in the name and details of 2 people at the beginning - this is because the tax form in France is per household. So, don't worry - you can add your wife's details and nil tax situation without any problem.Sue [:)]
Clair
In France, you declare your household income, not your individual income.Broadly speaking, the forms have several columns, one for yourself (usually husband), one for the conjoint (usually wife) and one or more for dependants (usually children living at home).Even if your wife has no income, she should be named on form 2042K (main declaration) on the front page under 'Etat civil du ou des déclarants '.
