Cost of heating oil

Recommended Posts

Our oil tank is still half full / half empty, depending upon your viewpoint. As it is only a holiday home at present this will last us at least 2 years. However, as crude oil prices are low wondering whether we should top up.

What is the current going rate for 500 litres of oil - I appreciate this might vary with region etc.

I think you need to shop around your area.

I phone all the local suppliers, they don't seem to happy about giving me the price without an order, but that's not my problem.

I paid 0.86 cents a litre last May,  0.61 cents a litre in November & now 0.52 cents a litre.

How long's a piece of string!!

I'm happy to pay a small premium to my local small supplier, who can generally deliver when it suits me and I can pop the cheque into his wife's shop when I'm passing.

Might be worth topping up now as oil is on the rise again, over $60 a barrel
