Christopher Duingt
We own a property in the haute savoie and have had our property broken into and the person has stayed . The police have visited the property and they ran from the property. Does our insurance cover us for squatters?
Hectorsdad
Your house insurance will probably cover any damage or theft provided you have satisfied their policy stipulations and can prove the existence of the stolen goods. I can’t imagine you would be able to claim for the fact they were squatting in your house.
Lehaut
I think it will very much depend on the type and cover of your assurance. Especially true if it is a secondary home and you do not live in it all the time. Your only recourse is to contact your insurance company and find out. Couple of recent cases here: Do let us know how you get on as its an increasing problem.
