ebaynut
What British imports are you referring to? I have not ever seen a ' made in the UK' sticker in my life (lived in France,Germany,Holland) on any product, let alone bought it. That says a lot about the quality of the places you shop I think. Made in England, Great Britain or UK is a prestigious mark around the world. Some of the best cars in the world are UK made, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar etc. Best motorcycles Triumph, best shoes (hand made in Northampton) Scotch Whisky, even down to washing up bowls by Addis, made here in the UK.All these companies have good order books from around the world as there is much demand for these products.Perhaps not much from France though. woolybanana
Designed in UK, financed and made by the Germans with Chinese parts then boxed in France and bearing the Made in France label because, truly, the box was made in France, from Canadian trees. This is the truth of European production.

Sprogster
Contrary to common perception France now has a smaller manufacturing base than the UK.
Rabbie
The misconception arises because so much of british manufacturing especially in the motor trade is foreign owned. Not so long ago TVR and Marcos were the largest british owned car manufacturers but one if not both have been victims of the recession
Jonzjob
Not that long back if you wanted to buy a British car then you bought a Volvo. There were more bits on that made in the U.K. than any 'British' car..The £/€ will do what it will do and no amunt of worrying will change. If you want to juggle yer cash between the two then good luck.
