Banks: Bad for the Blood Pressure

Banks, we have had a few (sound like that record that starts

"......Regrets I've had a.....) and some how, only banned from one but

until recently had a decent record with Notaires but now, one bar now up from an upstart Notaire (does anyone call them Maître, when one knows that some of them are as dodgy as it gets ?? Read it on the finance thread)

Just had some pretty sad news that a car and internet scam has cost two

young French kids (friends of our Daughter) an awful lot of money and

the bank are making it far worse by continuing with their rubbish and

archaiic system. Many of us would have seen it coming (when I know more

I will put it on) but these kids are just that, kids and,  they

believe that any cheque is bound to be honoured.....................

Never, ever believe a cheque has cleared just because it shows that it

is in your account....one day, one or some of you will have reason to

remember that fact..........

I made an officer in the Gendarmerie Nationale wait 3 weeks until he

could take the last car I sold and although he got a little stroppy

during that time, on meeting him at the designated station, he said he

would have done exactly the same thing........................

Ian Horn asks why banks annoy us so much. I think it's because they've got our money ( unless of course we're usually in the red ) and are using it to make money for themselves. They should be grateful and fall over themselves to be helpful. They are our servants and they behave as if we are theirs. Why should we be apologetic when asking to draw some of our own money? And even moreso if you're actually depositing money? They should say " Oh  thankyou so much madam,  it's so generous of you!" Really - Pat.

[quote user="Patf"]... I think it's because they've got our money...

You mean those pretty oblong pieces of paper that have the habit of sticking to people's fingers?

Money is the most stealable commodity in the world and banks have a prime duty of care when looking after ours.  They are highly regulated in how they do this and if their obligatory procedures cause us periodic inconvenience, then that's the price we pay for security of our assets.

Cash handling procedures fulfil two basic objectives - safeguarding the customer's property and protecting the staff who's job it is to handle it.

The prime rule in fraud investigation:  suspect the customer first, then the bank staff, then everyone else last.....
