It's actually the FIA that issues the licences...[;-)]

Besides, it's all tax deductable.

Thats Bernie and the Pervert isn't it.....................[:P]

As said in the article its of no consequence to the top drivers, they have plenty of money. Its those coming up who are having to pay a large chunk of their income just to compete.

It was really just the amount that suprised me. My race licences, and I competed at international level, cost peanuts compared to F1.

[quote user="Bugbear"]I had no idea of the charges made to F1 drivers for their licences.

Bit greedy Bernie, dont you think.

I liked this bit....

"FIA president Max Mosley has apparently indicated he will consider the matter, but only if the drivers provide proof of income. FIA president Max Mosley has apparently indicated he will consider the matter, but only if the drivers provide proof of income."

Interesting that the licence also had an insurance contribution. I wonder what it covers?

The Football Association probably rake in more money with a self imposed tax  across all the football spectrum.

I cannot get too excited about Modern F1, Grand Prix for cars finished in the 1960s for me.

This thread reminded me of my uncle, George Crossman who died in his Cooper at Brands Hatch in 1967.

He was my favourite uncle and it still makes tears come to my eyes.

I was pleased to see on an F1 site that he is still remembered.

Even this terrible event did not put me off motorsport I think it was the commercialisation that ruined things.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Yeh, stick with MotoGP! This year should be hot, very hot ...!

I don't get many hostility tickets to GPs any more and my motorcycling buddies and I are giving thought to chucking the idea of visiting european GPs.

I no longer believe they are good value - 3 races not enough in a day.

I prefer to have a grid ticket not sit in a stand 40 metres from the track.

At least in hostility you can watch TV and see more and get free booze and food.

I do enjoy the festival and lots of bikes but the feds are killing the jamboree.

I am getting old and would prefer a trip across the Pyreneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese bendy bits and into unknown Spain stopping at one horse towns.
