PaulT Posted April 5, 2016 Share Posted April 5, 2016 Had a little look in the other day as another forum I have been using has changed for the worse and noticed that it was mentioned that a certain person no longer posted on this forum, the one that made me stop posting - fed up with him telling me that it was impossible to do something that I have done a few times. So thought lets go back.Must say I have missed WBs posts and I now know why there is bunting and so much jubilation in the Vendee.And how is Norman doing, hope the op went well and that you are feeling better.Also it seems that all the old faces are still here (apart from one). But am having to water plants as there is little rain!Anyway, don't worry about Norman, he is firing on all of his one cylinder and, apparently living in his residence secondaire, chased there for 'burka fondling', apparently. The bloke in the burka did not like it!Oh, and he is worried about his ill gotten gains which are being looked after by a nice NIgerian chap he met on the net. PaulT Posted April 7, 2016 Author Share Posted April 7, 2016 Norman, so glad that everything is going OK suppose it is a shame that they cannot cure you of WB :)Pat, no we have not moved over full time. That would not be until next year when I become an OAP and think that the UK would pick up our medical bills subject to the outcome of the 23rd. However, think we will flit between the two countries. Last year Yve was diagnosed as having a brain tumour. It is called Acoustic Neuroma or to give it is proper name Vestibular Schwannoma. It grows on the nerve from the ear and also the balance nerve. Whilst benign it can cause problems from pressing on the brain as well as causing hearing and balance loss. Luckily she persisted with the GP until he sent her to a specialist who diagnosed it and then referred her to the specialist centre in Sheffield. Her tumour is small and the three courses of action were 1. wait and see, 2. gamma knife where about 200 gamma rays are fired in to the head to converge on the tumour or 3. actual surgery where the nerve from the ear is destroyed as well as the chance for facial palsy. Yve opted for the gamma knife which was carried out last September and is still suffering the after effects as well as possibly the tumour reacting. She will have an MRI this September to seewhat the situation is (there is no point in one now due to the reaction the tumour will have had). She will have an annual MRI for the next 10 years and it is only after the 5th one that they can predict whether it has been a success - the tumour can carry on growing as well as the hoped for shrinking. My dear SIL had a brain tumour, it had spread to her lungs from her bowel and then to her brain. I understand that things are far different in Yve's case, but I just wanted to say that my SIL went to Sheffield and had the gamma knife treatment - that arrangement around the head is quite something! We all travelled up from Berkshire/Hampshire for her treatment. It's amazing what treatments are available today!I wish you both well for the future.
