Stevej
We have a put our house in Brittany with a French agent (La Foret) to sell it. We signed an exclusivity agreement without really reading the small print. We have also put the property on the French Property News website. We have now been told by the French agent that we will have to pay their full commision c. 6900 euros if we sell the house privately.Whilst my French is not great I do not think that the agreement is explicit on this matter.Have any other readers had a similar experience.regardsSteve
BJSLIV
That is the norm where exclusivity is involved, in France or the UK. If you intend to sell privately then you need to make specific provision to allow you to do this. Did you limit the period of exclusivity?. Teamedup
Most people I know who are selling will either use several agents or give one agent a time limit to get it sold and during this time would have exclusivity, after say 6 weeks they would find another agent.
