Russethouse
The note I saw said that it wasn't such an easy job because of the size of the database....... I'm not technical so its no good debating the point with me I'm afraid - anyhow I'll chase it up and see whats happening.
Quillan
Probably Will because as you know the forums run by Archant are no where near as important as the rest of the functions the computer systems carry out. I understand that all the forums database occupies about 45GB which is, in my opinion, not particularily large in this day and age but its still quite a bit to restore. It also of course depends when the backup is taken, if its every night or early AM perhaps they have restored the latest backup, it may just be down to timing. Like any system you will loose everything between when the last backup was taken and the time of the system crash
Judith
Especially if you find the backup you took does not work. It happened once to my knowledge with a well known and highly respectable organisation - the backup finally used was not the most recent, and the information after the backup and vefore restore was lost forever.Let's hope that doesn't happen here.
