International Disarmament

SAINTES, 29 - 31 October 2004: 'Rally for International Disarmament', timed on the eve of the US presidential election, is crucial in mobilising support for the UN meeting in New York in April 2005. It is also part of the 'mayors for peace' and the international elimination of all nuclear weapons by the year 2020. It intended to make French and European public opinion more aware of this fundamental aspect of international security: nuclear weapons are the ONLY weapons of mass destruction.

If Bush wins, it will reinforce what has already begun: an encircling of the globe of military units ostensisbly to combat terrorism. However, another factor is oil, water, gas - resources that we all so urgently need, more so in the US as they are the biggest users and polluters. At a practical level, forecasts estimate a doubling of our bills for these very same resources within the next five years, or even before. Contact [email protected] for details.

Are you for real?

Try putting over your point of view to the bereaved parents in Russia. Or the fanatics that press the buttons. Just what they want, "International Disarmament", it would so make life much easier for them.

The last time we had international disarmament all the nice people did it, as Boggy says, but Hitler and Stalin didn't bother. Which led to a degree of international unpleasantness...

Isn't this just another 'Kick the Yanks' exercise? It seems to be your agenda from your post. I thought we might have grown up beyond cartoon politics. Didn't you tell us a while back that President Bush was going to suspend November's elections? He's certainly wasting a lot of money in that case.

Perhaps they could if it was the Russian Doll off the vodka advert.
