Jonzjob
I don't have to go far to see what can happen to these things. These are about 8 miles as the blade, sorry crow flies.OK, so they are old, but the same things are still happening and happening quite quickly sometimes. Someone earlier said about church spires being struck. But they don't throw wreckage like a javlin thrower. They have also stood the test of time. These things haven't!That is the remains of a busted blade at the bottom of the lower picture and if you lok carefully the top blade doesn't vanish into the mist, it just vanished!! Russethouse
If you able to receive it, BBC South Today has a special programme about Wind turbines this evening - broadcast using wind power.
powerdesal
RH,I obviously wont be able to see the programme but I hope for the BBCs sake that the wind keeps blowing (assuming its a live programme) at a sufficient speed or there will be some explaining to do. I am willing to bet its a recorded programme and that there was a properly generated mains back up - or it was recorded in segments when there was sufficient wind.Would you, or anyone else on this forum, be willing to live your day to day life ( every day of the year, summer and winter ) only reliant on wind power, no batteries, no back up - honest answers please. Russethouse
I believe the program is coming from close to the Wind turbine at the Madjeski football stadium - I guess they have back up to hand ! I quite like it, but it's just one, and acts as a landmark.I'm a 'Strictly' fan so I wont be watching either - sorry !
