cooperlola
Nope. On balance I'd say the exchange rate is pretty bang on.
Bob T
Hard question to answer, but, liter of diesel in the UK £1, liter of diesel in France 1 euro. Years road tax in UK £150 ish, years road tax in France nil euro. These are only two things, but things that are essential for me. At the end of the day my income here is about a quarter of what it was in the UK, but I live a better life.
Sprogster
Dordogne must have the cheapest diesel in France. When I drive from St Malo to the Var, I find diesel prices average between Euro1.15 off the autoroute to Euro 1.21 on the autoroute. Also don't forget that at the moment almost all motorways in the UK are free, whilst the excellent French autoroutes are mostly toll and the toll fees are getting much more expensive. Richard-R
Pound for pound, so to speak, I would say it is about equal. Some things are cheaper in France and some things are more expensive. If you need to earn a living in France, then it works our far more expensive in real terms (high taxes).
