Beryl
That was quick off the mark. I am pleased, as much as a having a female President in France would be nice, she is not the one.

Clair
The numbers will be gradually adjusted, but the result is unlikely to change. So far, a surprising low figure for Sarko who had been tipped at 55%...

Clair
The PS needs to change and adapt. The elephants have to accept that the traditional left ideals do not meet today's expectations. The failure is not hers, it is the party's.

Cat
I posted this link after the first round, but it's worth posting again here http://www.interieur.gouv.fr/sections/a_votre_service/resultats-elections/PR2007/index.htmlYou can drill down from region to department to commune to find the results for each. For the Midi Pyrenees Royal had 53% of the votes, in the Lot she had 56% and for my commune she had 52%, so Sarkozy's popularity isn't universal. Clair
The results from my village were very much at odds with the national trend:Sarkosy: 39.67% (national: 53.06%)Royal: 60.33% (46.94%)Once again, the turnout was extremely high: 90.97% (83.97%) and the number of active votes was 95.28% (95.80%)
Tag
Patmobile, I thought Sarko took the Pas de Calais with most of the old, northern, industrial heartland.

Am I right in thinking that the red (Sego) areas correspond roughly to where the bulk of Brit expats are? It might explain why those of us in predominantly blue (Sarko) areas see a different France? Tag
Yep, just checked; Sarko took it by less than a percentage point.
