woolybanana
Of course he will not, but he will continue to try and destroy the opposition by innuendo and lies as he is now trying to do with Mr. Fillon.
NormanH
He will be quite right to ignore such a message from someone who is motovated by hatred and bigotry. The social progress made by his government in legalising same-sex marriage is what provoked this.David van Hemelryck, qui dirige le groupe «Hollande démission», actif notamment lors des «Manifs pour tous» contre le mariage homosexuel, a revendiqué cet acte sur son compte twitter
woolybanana
Yes, Norman, agreed that he is of an extreme Catho belief. What surprised me over the gay marriage debate was the strength of this lobby. One supposes that they are burrowing away under the surface the whole time, rather like woodworm in furniture, headed up, no doubt, by Opus Dei.However, there are plenty of other reasons for Hollande to go. NormanH
It's weird. Two and a half years after winning a majority and taking over after 17 years of right-wing Presidents who did nothing to advance France Hollande is already blamed for all the ills that have built up over the years.Over four years since Cameron failed to win a majority in the UK he is still blaming the Labour party...Either the present incumbent is to blame or it is the fault of the last lot by a sort of natural delay in the effect of mesures taken , but let's be consistent. woolybanana
Hollande's weak response to the major issue affecting France is the problem - he has not really got to grips with the size of the State in France. His reforms are mere tokens and his taxation policies outrageous.
NormanH
But neither did any of the previous few. Chirac was immobile apart from hugging a few cows and Sarkozy rushed frantically around finding juicy titbits for his cronies and trying to muzzle the lawyers but none of them has been able to tackle the twin problems of the "millefeuille" and the top-down power structure which concentrates power at the top at each level from National to local and so favours cronyism.I think that the problem is structural, and a VIth République is needed to solve it but how to get the interested parties to vote to reform themselves? http://institutdeslibertes.org/le-scandale-des-collectivites-locales-francaises-ou-lart-du-mille-feuilles/
woolybanana
Not sure about a VI th Republic, but Hollande has had the chance and missed it. Had he defied his left, joined with the centre and stripped down the French State in all its forms, right down to the smallest commune, SNCF, handouts to unions, industry and deputes ....... the list is not endless.
