Dear Lordy - you just couldn't make it up.

Anyone read this;

'Bungling eu officials have forced the slaughter of innocent majestic deer after zoo animals were listed as invasive species'.

Part of a new law about 'invasive species' - 37 of them;  but no-one, of all these oh-so-clever and highly paid, and terribly professional  '? ? ?' -

thought that it might be an idea to exclude zoo animals.

Go and read about it;  these are the same 'highly professional and experienced' 'whatevers' who'll be involved in drafting Brexit.

Sad story - will upset some animal lovers.

Chessie

I've searched the Internet for details of this outrage but couldn't find anything. Can you post a link?

The only thing I found was a list of non native and invasive species and an old article from the Telegraph saying that grey squirrels wouldn't be allowed in zoos.

Even in Zoo populations all animals are culled from time to time. It's a sad fact of zoo life. You only have space for one male in a herd and once you have sold the extra to other zoos what do you do with the rest?

Phew! It took nearly 18 seconds to find articles on the subject by Googling "Bungling eu officials have forced the slaughter of innocent majestic deer after zoo animals were listed as invasive species"

I found this - but that relates to animals living wild http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-12551422

Also this which relates to zoo animals (so I don't think anyone 'forgot' about zoos!) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/06/popular-zoo-animals-could-be-banned-under-eu-rules-amid-fears-ab/
