They are getting a bit of stick at the moment over some of their reporting of certain models with problems etc, and as virtually all bike related mags are 'emap' owned the same stuff appears in whatever you buy.As regard the Dakar, well it's fantastic. I always wanted to enter but am well to old now. Have you read Charley Boormans book 'Race to Dakar', it's well worth a read. Dog Posted January 6, 2007 Share Posted January 6, 2007 I am too hooked - have to get MCN sent over.Boring Charley annoys me hanging on to the coat tails of some great enduro riders that have put years of hard work into their sport.He justs thinks if he buys the motorcycle equivalent of a Chelsea Tractor he can be up with the big boys.If he was serious he would have done a few years of raids before attempting the Dakar.I doubt if he could do a two days enduro in Wales. I doubt if he could do a two days enduro in Wales.[/quote]You should read his book Dog, he did a lot of pre-dakar stuff prior to going and despite a lot of negative press, he actually did quite well for a first attempt. He broke, or dislocated a shoulder doing some off-road stuff in Wales, that nearly cost him his entry to the Dakar. I've met both him and Ewan McGregor and they are both really down to earth guys, who have a real love of biking. I don't critisise him or Ewan either for using their fame to get the funding necessary to do these trips, if I was famous I'd probably do the same.
