1. Many thanks for the replies I had thought that Dafy Moto in Périgueux had closed down As the last time I went past was end of January and did not see any sign for a new shop. Will have a look at the new shops.
2. We live in-between  Périgueux and Angoulême About  half way , All the bike shops that I have seen do not stock much in the way of motorcycle clothing , So my be some of you out there have been to or know of somewhere that stocks a good range of kit ?? Would be willing to travel 200km/300km if we had to .   Its not only BMW that have shaft drive
3. It took me 12 days to rub them down then one coat of under coat and two coats of paint They face south and  have stood up well to the constant sun in the two years since they were finished There is a feather 5 around the front as well , all told about 3 weeks to finish them, The funniest thing was when we brought the house the shutters were open ,the first time we closed them we found that the previous owner had painted them when open and just the bits you could see had been painted .
4. we have one or two ofthem !
5. Hi Bugbear For me it would be weekends as after two years of (stop the world we are getting off) I have gone and registered and now have to work just to pay my social charges
6. bugbear You wouldn’t guess that the guy with the skeletal leathers sells ladies hand bags for a living   And is well none for taking fellow riders down dead end roads/dirt tracks even with a gps is a bit bizarre as he found our house and we our not on any maps
7. Would that be one of these ? They even managed to get one of them started

9. Hi Wendy and Nomad the new home web site looks good http://h1.ripway.com/lonytang/ And I love looking at the  http://www.whereiswendynow.co.uk/  or Tony site it just takes so long to down load the photos on our so slow dial up but it nice to see some of the roads and stop offs that we used to visit . Hope to see you both soon on this side of the water All the best shan + Donna
10. You could try looking hear http://www.artisan-anglais.com/entrymap.htm
11. The only form of insulation we have is 25mm hard board  witch has a bitumen coating on the out side face .This is on the back of the voliges .   We live in two barns have a look http://www.french-property.com/vp/nv/id/42417/vi/all It was converted 30 years ago buy others before us The living room is 70 squire meters and all we have is a old 10kw godin heater at one end that keeps the room at 19c/21c most of the time when it gets bellow -3c we light the big fire or just top the heat up with a 3kw petrol heater .   (Do I have any experience of it?) Yes about 30 years worth (Is the isolation effective?) Yes if fitted correctly (does the plaster board not get crushed ?) Not if your careful and  its done correctly   Use screws or heli fixings for the counter battens then fix a breather membrane then the roofing battens . I always use nail guns for fixing the battens as this does not make the repeated vibrations that a hammer makes
12. If you are taking the existing roof off ,Just fix plaster board with insulation on the back to the out side face of the rafters .Then  counter batten vertically ,felt with a breather membrane and batten for the tiles horizontally . Then inside all you will have to do is fill a few joints in the plaster board .
13. Gary I ride one of these and the only mod was to  put shorter dog bones on it to lift the back end Up 40mm .witch puts a bit more Wight on the front and makes the front more planted and of course it turns better with a slightly steeper head angle .   And no I don’t take the track drug any more
14. 19. the face stone for this cost 70 euros and it was 7 weeks from ordering it to getting it. it took just under a week to get it finished but it was fun getting the lintall up on my own

23. Hi Liz Was there a reason why the builder did not join the flue to the stove ?   The flue in the chimney is 190mm and the out let from the stove is 200mm ?   All of the large brico type stores sell a good selection of bits and jointing compounds And some of the bigger builders merchants do as well .   I thought you had gone all posh and had central hearting
24. I would not paint them. One it would void any guarantee you have with the guy that fitted them and the tile manufacture  would just laugh should you say the tiles have failed .   But if you wish to change  the colour you could use a cement dye ,as long as the tiles do not have a glaze to them it will take . That’s if you can get cement dye hear in France. If so it would work buy paint brush or spraying. But do try a tile or a bit of tile first But remember what ever you do that the sun will start to lighten them from the day you do it.   But Gary so rightly said “It's the wrong time of year really but a light coating of yogurt when it's dry and warmer than now with encourage moss and algae growth and they will look like they’ve been there for years”   Its best to do this after the last frost has gone
25. We use a garmin 2610 on the bike and in the car . In the car it sits on the dash but as we don’t look at it whilst driving ,just listen to the voice directions it could be in the glove box if we turned the volume up. Most have to have the GPS fixed or wedged on the windscreen so that they get a signal But as we have a heated front screen  we have fitted a small external receiver .     On the bike it sits between the handle bars and the directions are played through our Intercom system ,so no need to look at it.   With the Garmin you can adjust driving speeds and preference of types of roads you wish to use in the set up . Has a detour button should the road be closed . And a get me home button for the wife .
