Wooden shutter shots

Ooh Beryl, one of my favourite things, French shutters, what a great idea for a thread. [:D]

Really lovely photos, I have some from a few weeks ago and I took some today, I think there should be some lovely shutters in there. Will probably be back later.

This part of the Dordogne (Mark24's gorgeous green shutters are further north I believe) colours are pretty subdued, usually white or very light or stained. Lori in the beautiful Provence should be contributing to this thread! [:)]

Here are some photos of shutters that I found. Some were taken yesterday a few a few weeks ago. By the way, none of these are of our house, in any case our shutters are just plain ol white. [:)]  By the way I had accidentally pushed a button on my camera and had it on the wrong setting, that is why the last two are a little blurred. [:(].

I hope it is OK to post loads! [:-))]

Hoddy, you are good, perhaps the peacocks are a give away. [:)] The one with the bright blue shutters is in St. Tamnies. It sits high on a hill and the view from up there is very very  pretty, the view from their windows must be gorgeous but can't really get a sense of that in the photo.

They have predicted rain today (and many days to come [:(])  but the sun has been out all day like yesterday, fingers crossed they have it wrong. If so, later in the week I will make a point of taking a few more photos of the area you are located around La Roque Gageac, if not, I'm sure we both could do without seeing photos of the area in grey damp conditions. Just found this thread after reading one on where to buy shutters!

Anyway, it inspired me to finally learn about Photobucket (thank you to Fluffy and to Bugbear, if it works!)

I am sorry the standard of the photography isn't up to that of the rest of you, but there's a twist in the tail, as it were...

So were you fooled?

I used to think my residence secondaire looked so forlorn when it was closed up.  Eventually, I found someone to come and paint two sets of false shutters on the walls (but that look exactly like the wooden ones when they are open) on the windows that are on the road. She then painted windows, lace-curtains etc on the backs of the shutters themselves, the side you see only when they are shut!

Sorry, it's all I could find on this computer.  I am sure I have some close ones though.  Ceri did a lot of considering the "point of view" to get the full trompe l'oeil effect, and did a brilliant job reproducing the glazing bars and net curtains that are actually there.  She added a cat (just visible) on the outside ledge, modelled on a very cantankerous tortoiseshell-&-white we used to have.

Hi Beryl, these are a little delayed but if these don't get your 'shutter buds' going, nothing will!

Have a nice day,

Ali

This almost reminds me of my father doing his round in the village (in 79)  on his way to the boulangerie for his bread and stopping by to say hello to everyone!!  [:D]
