I spotted this fellow in the garden this morning, it is the first one we have seen.  For those who don't know it is a European Green Lizard, which is a very lazy name for something.

I saw a lot of these in my garden today are they damsel flys ? there were blue red and green ones and the hugh dragon flies big yelow and black ones . Hopfully Chris P will see the pics and inform us of the proper names for both our pictures [:)]

Stunning photo Pads, can I steal it?  I think it's a young male Calopteryx virgo, interestingly called the Beautiful Demoiselle in English, "Demoiselle" being the French for Damselfly. What else did you get?

That's its name all right - Green lizard (male). Lacerta viridis.

You are more than welcome to steal it , I have put another photo of it with all 4 wings spread on the frogs are moving thread as i have asked a frog question there.

heres a bee pic I took same day sadley by the time Id got out of my chair to go back to the house to get my camera all the red and green ones had gone , but they will be back im sure

It's about 1 inch long! I thought the common name was a Rhino beetle Chris? Can't find it though?
