Hosepipe Ban

You should regularly read the notices put on the notice boards outside the Mairie.

The Mairie will show any official notice regarding hosepipe bans, bonfires etc...

This is how local people are kept informed of planning applications requests, upcoming marriages and anything else that could affect them.
Since they raised the subject of a water shortage, we have had one fine day and it has not stopped raining all day, its chucking it down right now
Yes, same here. Our neighbours were telling us about the bans- not to water gardens or wash cars- about an hour later it started to rain and it's barely stopped since!

We have a ban in place from 1st April - 15th April , in Charente Maritime . We did wonder if this was an elaborate April Fools day joke , but it was confirmed on our local notice board .

Weather has been mixed and ground and plants do look quite dry .
Cadc says they have a ban from 1 - 15 April. I see now that here in Ruffec we have a similar ban 1 - 18 April. Does anyone know if this means that after this time, the ban will be rescinded
Just as before, you have to read the info outside the mairie:

if the weather remains dry, the ban will probably stay...

The severe hot and dry weather of the last 2 summers added to the unusual lack of rain in the autumns and winters has certainly severely depleted the underground sources and lowered the water table, hence the early bans to prevent a water shortage this summer.

Keep reading the notes outside the mairie over the next few months: they will probably indicate a bonfire restriction in certain areas as well...
