Probiotics: Bifidobacterium infantis

I'm looking for a dietary supplement that contains Bifidobacterium infantis, which may be useful in the treatment of IBS.  I understand that B. infantis is available in the US in pill or capsule form and in Canada in a malted milk mixture, but I don't know whether it's available in the UK or France.

I've tried a Google search, but apparently I haven't put in the right terms.  Any suggestions?

A few more questions:

1. Am I likely to find this in a pharmacy or would I need to order it online?

2. Where did you search (Google? Yahoo? Ask?) and what search terms did you use?  I might try to find something that has fewer ingredients in addition to the B. infantis.

I suspect that this is another area in which the French are ahead of the US.

As you have been particularly nice about me in your previous post [:D], I have called the manufacturers and they say you can either ask your pharmacist to order it or you can order it from them directly as many people do.

So how do these things work then?  There is no bacteria in the stomache, the very strong acid kills all that off instantly.  Bacteria is only useful in the gut, but if taken orally it it can't get that far so how is it supposed to do anything?

That's a good question, and I certainly don't have the answer to it (I am most emphatically not a gastroenterologist).  I just came across an article summarizing some studies of the use of probiotics (in oral form) in the treatment of IBS, and B.infantis seemed to have the most promising results.
