Norton Antivirus

Could anyone tell me please,do you normally pay for the Norton Antivirus. It came with the computer when we bought it (new) and I,ve received notification today it runs out and i have to renew it. But you have to pay to renew it,is that normal? Also is there any other anti virus stuff just as good as Norton but for free?

Yes, that is normal.

You can try AVG from http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php.
It is free. Some test show it to be very good, others say it fails in detecting a certain type of virus.

Nothing is perfect, though.
I have been using it for a couple of years now and am quite happy with it. I do not like Norton because it interferes with some other software I use daily, but others think it is great.
